Unusual Christmas

Weird day after Christmas here.  The girls only had the one day off.  They will get 4 weeks for Chinese New Years and a week of half days leading up to that, but it’s strange having the house to myself and have so much quiet the day after Christmas.   Not that I’m complaining.  I’ve got a desk to build today, as Kiddo really wanted a desk and chair for Xmas and she got one.  On top of that she got a bunch of books and some new soft friends to cuddle with… Including a cat.  That’ll pretty much complete her collection, but I’m sure we’ll learn of new friends needed/wanted in the days and weeks to come.  Also, she has asked for a pet fish and has done well to keep her room tidy and show responsibility over the last 6 weeks, so come CNY break, she will get getting a pet fish as well.  So, there’s that. On the 24th, SMIC had their Xmas concert and Kiddo hated it, but rocked it.  She was NOT looking forward to the outfit, to song, the dance… a...

Training a bookworm

I started wearing glasses in high school when it was found that I have astigmatism in both eyes.  For long years, I needed glasses for reading fine print.  Mostly while reading books.  Also while driving, as moving signs can give me trouble as well.  In recent years, I’ve come to wear my glasses more and more.  It’s not just fine print or moving signs that get me these days.  It’s most things.  I’m also finding that I have different vision near and far and that requires me to adjust or even remove my glasses in some cases.   All this means that I’m getting older.  Also, that I’ll need to get my eyes checked one day soon and switch over to a bifocal lens.  I guess I really am getting to be a “little old man” as J is wont to call me when she is feeling teasing and playful.   Kiddo has no such vision problems… so far.  J and I both are wearer of glasses, however, so genetically we know that she will need at some point.  N...

What's up, Dog

Back to back days and why not.  Maybe it’s a Christmas miracle.   I’ve gotten a few messages about the spin/stationary bike that we got, so I figured I’d take a minute and post that.  Back in CA and the Covid days, we had a Pelaton and we both liked that and used it often.  We didn’t have the space in BKK, so it wasn’t something on radar for us.  Here, however, we’ve got the space and both have the want.  Especially waking this morning and the temp was 0C (33F) and that isn’t very conducive to walking or exercising outside.  Also, in BKK J had the climbing gym and did that.  So, we (mostly she) wanted something to use for fitness.  So far she is happy with it and has enjoyed her rides.  It’s got a little clip on front that she can attach her Kindle into, so she’s been reading and riding.   In other new stuff news, I’ve finally gotten myself some cold weather shoes.  The only downside to this is that I’ve been living in Conv...

Walk with me

I don’t blog as much these days.  I’ll be the first to admit that.  It’s for a lot of reasons.   First and foremost… I’m trying to focus more on Kiddo and the adventure and not on my thoughts on the world around us.  Three years ago, I would have been blogging daily about the failings and failures of AmeriKKKa, the election, etc etc.  I can’t any more.  That’s not what this is about.  It’s about us.  Kiddo.  The family and the adventure we are on.  The good times.  The funny stuff.  If The USA wants to be whatever it’s become; Well, we don’t live there.  We did our part.  Had our say.  Pay our taxes.  We’ve moved on.  So have I.  J and Kiddo (and those close friends of mine) know my thoughts or I will share those thoughts with them, but for here I’m keeping it to Kiddo and life. The other part of it is that I, after three years in Bangkok, have a city to explore.  Not that I couldn’t explore B...
