A little rain will fall

Last blog, I mentioned that Kiddo had Spirit Week at school.  I got pics from PJ Day and Crazy Hair day.  Hope y’all enjoy!

There is some bad news as well.  The fish friends didn’t survive.  It was no fault of Kiddo.  She was great with them.  After a tank cleaning though, all the fish went belly up.  I helped her clean.  We didn’t use chemicals.  We rinsed out the rocks and gravel.  We cleaned the filters.  We added water and got the filters and things running.  We let the heater run to get the water to temp, but after transferring back, they didn’t survive.  Kiddo was heartbroken.  In all honesty, so was I in a small way.  Fish are hard though, as Kiddo was hoping for something a bit more interactive.  Since we have an aquarium and are 90% of the way there, we settled on turtles.  Two little box turtles will be coming into our lives.  Easy to care for.  Quite.  They can live in the aquarium (empty of water) and on the small gravel and rocks we have.  All we need is a water dish and small heat lamp, but those are easy to acquire for less than $5 total.  Also, they have food pellets that are made for turtles, but they also can eat fruit and veg scraps.  We have salad and/or green things every night with meals, so we can add scraps here and there with carrot or cuncumber slices and ends.  We also eat apples and oranges daily and I read that bits of those (including orange peels) are good for turtles and can help keep them active and healthy.  So, we’ve lost our fish friends, but we have a turtle plan.

The weather this weekend was also apropos for dead fish.  Rainy and grey.  Gloomy.  It was not too cold, just a rainy spring weekend.  I made soup.  I was a nice weekend.  However, Kiddo did have some rambunctions.  While I was doing prep and soup, J took her out.  As you can see, Kiddo is great at being 7.  She lived it up.

After they got home, we (of course) put her in the bath, because WOW.  When I poked in to check on her at one point, I commented on how she was great at getting covered and even had some grass in the tub with her.  “It’s not my fault I play so hard!”  Yup, Kiddo… You are great at being 7.  LOL

The weather is warming and we are seeing forecasts of sunny and 25-28 degrees (77-83ish) this weekend and into next week.  Perfect weather to get out and explore some.  We’ve not yet seen Century Park, so we are talking about that as an idea.  Maybe back to the zoo.  Maybe something completely out of left field.  We shall see.

Let’s go, Kiddo…. Spring is in the air and it’s time to explore and have some fun.  You can lead and we’ll follow.  Shall we ride some rollercoasters and see Century Park or would you prefer something else?  Let’s take some time to enjoy the weather and city and explore; what’s life if not an adventure.
