Toothless beers with an 8 year old

J and I will wake tomorrow with an 8 year old in the house!  How did that happen?  It feels like yesterday that we were bringing her home with us.  Seems like yesterday that we was just walking and talking.  Feels like yesterday that she “had a problem” and colored herself blue the week before we moved to Thailand.  Time is funny with a child.  So many milestones that seem like they all just happened and yet there they all are.

Seems like yesterday that she lost her first tooth, but over the weekend, I got this video.  J and Kiddo were going out to get a coffee and read together while I was at a Craft Beer Fest with some new friends and I got this vid.  She was walking and talking to J and it just flew out her face.  Easier than pulling it, I guess.  LOL

As for me, I got out on Saturday and got to go to a Beer Fest.  It was a good time.  Lots of good people and lots of good beers.  I would like to give a more detailed breakdown of it, but I can’t.  It was a 3 hour window of free flow beers from a dozen different breweries here in China.  That being said, by about the half way point, it becomes a haze of beer and good times.  From what I do recall, I tried a bunch of good pilsners and some really juicy (almost chewy) DIPAs.  Got home safe and sound, so no worries.  It wasn’t THAT bad of a night, but enough that there are some fuzzy parts.  So, it was a blast.

Yes, that DOES say Olive cider.

Other than that, I promised some pics of Kiddo in a new outfit.

Gotta love the mix-matched socks of uneven length to go with it all.

The week has been a week.  Nothing much to report other than we are getting ready for a half dozen 8 year olds this Sunday for a Bday party for the Kiddo.  It will be what it is, of that I have no doubt.  Bunch of shrieking hooligans running about and monkeying in the way that only a bunch of 8 year old girls can.  I am NOT ready for the teenage years.

Tomorrow (Thursday 17 April) is also SMIC field trip day.  Kiddo is going to some play farm thing.  Basically, she gets to run, play, monkey, and use up all the energy she can.  Doubt we’ll have sleep issues.  J, for her part, is taking the “big” field trip with the 5th graders.  It’s to Disney Shanghai.  I don’t envy her that, but she will go and get to see Disney, so there’s that.  I’m sure she’ll have some fun and some moments.  I can’t wait to hear from both ladies about it.

While they field trip, I’m just doing home stuff, but I will run out and grab a cupcake or small cake thing for Kiddo.  Sure, she has her party of Sunday and J will be home late because of her field trip, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make the day a little special for the Kiddo.  Besides, she’s my little angel and I will do everything in my power to make the day special for her.  She was born, that makes every day special for me.  The least I can do is give back one day a year and go out of my way to make it a little extra special.  The parents out there reading will understand.

Let’s go, Kiddo… You are turning 8 in less than 24 hours.  You are going on a field trip.  You are living your life to the absolute limit that you can every day.  You run, play, learn, and share with Mumma and me.  You are my joy.  My best thing.  My little love.  My favorite.  I hope 8 is a year of nothing but smiles and joy.  We love you and look forward to watching you grow, learn, love, and change over the next year.  We also look forward to all the things that will stay the same.  Watching you be YOU, even as you grow and change.  Hugs and love to you, dearest Kiddo.
