Beach Pony

We are off, in just a little bit, to go on our one big summer outing.  We are headed out for Hua Hin in a few hours and we will have a few days at an AirBnB that is right on the beach.  Literally 20m from the beach.  So, we are excited for a few days of sun, fun, and doing a bunch of nothing.


Nanny Beer is driving us and joining us as well.  Not as child care, but as our driver and guest.  We hope that she’ll have a drink or beer with J and myself during this, but if she would rather just do her own thing… Then power to her.  I wish I could go back to when I was in my 20s and get a free vacay to do what I wanted.  Especially in a SEA Beach town.  I’d have went off!  HA


For me, I look forward to just being for a few days.  Seeing as we have an AirBnB and it’s a house, I have a kitchen and grill at my disposal.  Being able to just beach and chill, do nothing all day, and come home to cook and just play in the kitchen sounds like a great time to me.  I am excited to see the set up and find a store and market and just start putting things together.  Also, Beer has been around long enough to have seen and smelt some of my cooking; I hope she wants to eat and spend some time enjoying meals with us.  And yes, if I can find good looking hamburger meat and anything resembling a bun, I am planning on making burgers.  If not, I’m certain that I have put together some dough and make some grilled pizzas…. If I can find something like decent cheese and any kind of tomato sauce or paste as well.  Enjoy olive oil and good basil and tomatoes and I can make a margarita style pizza.


For now, I’ll bid you all adieu and remind you to check Insta and Facebook for pics and fun and I’ll be back at some point with pics and posts about the time we had.


Let’s go, Kiddo… Time to finish packing and then off to Hua Hin.  You are going to lose a crate and a half of bananas when you see the My Lil’ Pony* beach toys we got you.

 

*My Lil’ Pony is her JAM right now for a show.  Beach toys too?!?!?!?!?!  Her little brain is gonna explode with glee.


Also, before I go, much has been done in the last week in our neighborhood and the coming night market and gentrification.  This is all moving right along.  And the train line as well.  Come January*ish.... We should have a train line just a 5 min walk away and a night market just across the street.  Not to shabby for a free condo that's walking distance from work.







And before I go, I've given much thought and time to understanding America and the gun violence and all that.  I think I've finally come up with a solution.

On being brave

I was laying in bed the other night and I was just awake and thinking.  I was thinking, specifically, about Kiddo and how brave she is in a lot of ways.  Moving across the world with J and I (not that she had much choice) was brave.  Quarantine.  Going to a school with mostly Thai kids.  Making friends.  Losing her tooth.  All of it.  She is so brave.   Even her attitude.  That want to see more of the world and to explore it.  Her willingness to go to markets with J and myself and eat bugs.  Last summer in Vietnam and just trying pho or banh mi while we walked down a street.  Getting lost with J in the rain in HCMC and having that adventure.  Her excitement to travel 30,000 miles this summer.  Her excitement for Shanghai and wondering how it will be different, better/worse, and what kind of ‘interesting and fun things to do” once we get there.   As I lay in the dark being a proud papa, I couldn’t help b...

A weekend in the life of Kiddo

We have our LA and SF trips set.  We are going to find some time this week to plan and set the Wisco trip and then the Mexico trip, but one step at a time.  J is looking at properties in MX for us and we will book that all soon.  Then, it’s just tying up life here, selling off our stuff, packing and getting ready to move and then it’s just airplanes, airports, and adventures. It’s not all busy work though.  We are still having some fun.   J needed to go to school on Saturday to drop off some of Kiddo’s stuff that she is repurposing to her classroom.  Puzzles and books that Kiddo aged out of and what better place than a Kindergarten classroom.  Perfect solution and better than trudging them into town and getting next to nothing selling them for credit only to acquire more books to drag around the world.  New books can wait for Shanghai, if at all, because J and I are on Kindles and Kiddo is mainly on the iPad and Epic for her books.  The l...
