Moving on the clock

It’s no secret that we’re looking at houses and condos as we hit the one year mark.

J, who I need to give all the credit to, has been on point and chatting with the housing agents and condo owners, renters, etc.  She’s also been looking at houses and other things like that.  It’s been a Herculean effort and we’ve seen a couple of places.  Nothing that have made us jump or want to sign then and there.  We saw a house I liked, but we’d have needed to fully furnish, including appliances.  Plus, we’d need a car or scooter to get to and from places, as Grab and other would have been expensive.  It was a nice little house in a nice area and neighborhood, so it’s a bummer that it wasn’t gonna work.

We also saw some units near us and walking distance to the BTS (Train) station.  Like, a two block walk.  Talk about access.  However, it was furnished and owner was hesitant to remove furnishing, as they didn’t have space for it in their house now.  We have furniture in some regard; Chairs for the living room, a kitchenette thing, and little stuff like that, but with a big couch dominating the space and a kitchen that was about the same or smaller.

And in two weeks, we’d need to have a lease signed, all sorted, and then move.

Tick, tick, tick.

Plus, J is moving grade levels and helping to rebuild the Kinder and really set up good learning practice for the kids in their first (or maybe second) year of school.  That is a whole Herculean effort on its own.  Kiddo will be starting Kinder herself, so that’s another challenge.  All whilst moving and learning a new area.

Hold on.  Hold on.

Can we slow down?

Can we pause this for a bit?

No!

No slowing down.

So, many many discussions with J and myself.  Planning.  Looking.  Spitballing ideas.

Tick, tick, tick.

Finally, we decided.

Sometimes it’s better to dance with the devil you know.

Where we are now, we have the market.  Can walk to the mall.  Can walk to school/work.  I’m gonna resume hoops in August once school is back.  The gym and hospital are right next door.  The restaurant is across the street for lunches, coffees, or evening BBQ Skewers.

So, we’re staying put.  Which, is a bummer, since we all were looking forward to a new space and adventure.  However, with so many new challenges and changes coming in the next year, we talked it out and decided that staying would be our best option.  Also, it gives me a year to focus and scout areas around us where we might want to move for our 3rd year.  Unless we stay again, knowing it’s our last year and we might be moving jobs, schools, cities, or countries.  Or, like some staff did this year, maybe re-up for an additional year.  Maybe J is promoted or goes admin route.  Maybe I become and international pop sensation (My first album tentatively titled; Bald, Fat, and Fuzzy) and we can just hire a full time driver and live in a PHAT mansion.  You never know.

That’s the update.  I know, staying put is pretty anti-climatic, but it’s what’s best for us this next year.  The good news is, since we won’t have a moving fee and all that, J and I are going to update the kitchen and get some new IKEA stuff to help round it out a bit.  A new bit of gear for me, a new air fryer (Larger), and just a refresh of some things.  Plus, J found a framer, so we can get some art and Kiddo drawings framed and hung.  Make it a home in more than just name and people living there.

To celebrate, Kiddo and Mumma went to the pool this morning for a swim.  Kiddo, being 5 now, wanted to sunscreen herself.  So so so glad she did!
