Convincing Valentines Dinner and the Neti Kid
Yesterday was a love day. Not only was it Valentine’s Day, but Kiddo was super lovey all day and into the night. She was also, I will say, super sweet and cute.
The day started with a doctor appointment for Kiddo. We got an appointment in town at a different hospital where the doctors tend to have a little bit better English. In dealing with Kiddo and her allergies, we wanted to speak with someone who might have a bit better understanding of us and we can use a common language to try to make Kiddo a bit more comfortable. Her sneezing, eye itchiness, and post nasal drip have been pretty bad. The doctor was great. She had really good English, didn’t like some of the therapies that Nakornthon had tried and wanted to mix that up, but also suggested a Neti Pot/Nasal Irrigation for Kiddo.
She got us RX’d for some anti-histamines and nasal sprays that can help, but also got us a squeeze bottle and salt for Kiddo and a Neti Pot. She then had us wait and set up a Neti for Kiddo and a nurse showed us how to use it (unneeded, we both LOVE Neti), but also showed Kiddo how and made her to it a few times herself. Kiddo didn’t think it was bad, once she got used to the feeling of it, and last night we broke it out for Kiddo to use in the shower.
I gotta say, her sneezing and hacking and levels of allergy reactions were way down and she seems to be feeling a lot better. We will keep an eye on it, but Kiddo seems to be loving the Neti and has taken to it like a pro. So proud of her and trying more new things.
She’s also working on her chopstick skills. And she loves ramen. She ate as much as J and I did. If and when we get her to Japan, she’s gonna do some work on Ramen. Also, she might put some Japanese kids to shame with her ability to grip ramen like no one’s business. Look at her… even in pic form. She ain’t scared of no ramen!
Kiddo even commented the other morning that “most kids don’t get uniquenesses like I do.” She is aware that her’s is a life unusual and that she is having experiences that most kids don’t. Her level of awareness is amazing.
Also, her culture.
For the last week, at rest time or if J and I are dinner prepping, Kiddo will go in her room and paint KanVINCskys. It’s supposed to be Kandinsky, but KanVincskys just cracks us up. Like CUNcumber instead of cucumber, we just don’t have the heart to correct her. Also, I got some video and a Kiddo Vlog post as well.
With it being Valentine’s Day, however, means that J and I were having a date. A home date. We were told of good burger meat and so we wanted to give it a try. Here I am cooking it for us. Also, here I am breaking away from cooking because Kiddo needed a little love after bedtime. Someone was also curious (I suspect) on what a home date means in BKK and what J and I were doing. Listening to music, having a beer, cooking, and then eating, Kiddo!
Also, we opened the Red that Doc J and Mr E left for us and with he meal, it hit perfectly. A nice and drinkable red, balanced and went perfectly with the burgers, taters, beans, spice, etc. Also, I gotta pat my own back. The burgers were cooked perfectly, but the meat still is overworked and tough. Also, for some reason, it is really difficult in Thailand to find hamburger without rosemary in it. So, perfectly cooked, but not great. The homemade pickles and pickled onions did make it much better and the crunch and pop of color add some awesome, imho.
Outside of that, we’ve been doing a lot of pool time recently. Lil Miss needed to burn off some energy and the weather has been in the mid to high 30s C the last few days (88-96ish for the F peeps) and bike and all that would be too hot. As you can see, Kiddo is loving it. Also, what a little goofball. She loves the “Mumma Pool Hat.” She’s just the cutest.
She and J did walk to Tops the other day to get a few things. All pink with a Pork Chop friend. Can it get cuter than this?
Or when she wants to tell me morning secrets and just plug into me and love. Look at her face and the smile and love she has.
Or, eating an ice cream at the mall this past weekend. Someone is aware of the camera.
I would post her singing the I’m 5 years old song, but she was naked and just out of the shower when she invented the song, so it’s not pic appropriate. The lyrics, sang as loud as your 5 year old voice can manage, go like this…
I’m 5 years old… I’m 5 years old….. I’mmmmmmm fffffffiiiiiiiiiiiiivvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeee yyyyyeeeeeaaaaaarrrrrrssssssssssss old! Five, five, five years old. I’m five years old, I’m five years old….. I’m….
You get the idea! LOL
Outside of that, she got a donut valentine treat that her and J went to the roof to eat while I did kitchen clean up and meal prep for date night. Just pure Kiddo love!
Lastly, the video section of today’s post. Kiddo being morning Kiddo and munching all the cereal in sight while iPad playing. Also, does it get cuter than Kiddo and Nanny Beer playing rock, paper, scissors? Especially in Thai! She is a wonder and so brave, smart, willing to adapt, and just be her at the same time.
Let’s go, Kiddo… today may be a cool and rainy day, but we can have a lazy morning and then you can play this afternoon with Beer. As soon as the rain stops, it’ll be some Dada pool time and love. Otherwise, it’s still break; so live life, laugh and love, and draw up some more CanVincskys!
