7 Clips... that's ok!

Image
Kiddo is very very 5 and very very good at it.  Just ask her.   Besides the ‘mixmashed’ shoes that have been a trend, we’ve been adding mixmashed socks as well.  That is 100% Dada all the way.  I’ve mixed my socks up for so many years now, I can’t even recall how long or why I started it.   The other day (sorry, busy so didn’t get to blog in real time) she wanted to surprise me with her hair.  She can’t do her own hair yet, so most mornings it’s put up in a Dada Ponytail or bun, but on this particular morning, she wanted me to hide outside and wait for her to pick her hair ties and clips.  I got three hair ties and seven clips.  So, we made it work. She is very very 5 and very very good at it. She also very much us.  We’ve started seeing and hearing little things in her.  Things that we say or do, the inflection or tilt of a head, her body language or how she uses her face.  A million little things that are just, Oh… that’s ...

Taking 51 minutes for myself

Seasons change and so does the weather.  Unfortunately, that means HOT has descended on us.  That means mid-30sC for us (mid to upper 90s or 100s) here and it’s hot and humid.  The rainy season doesn’t start for about 6 more weeks.  Songkran is right around the corner and that’s the celebration of water, but since it’s celebrated on a moon phase, sometimes it is celebrated a few weeks earlier than the true rains.  We have had some overcast days, so 30-50% chance of rain, but so far it’s held off… At least in Rama II it has.  So, we are dealing with the heat and humidity right now.  Late March and April are hot and bad.  After that, it does mellow out a bit.  As much as it can mellow in a tropical jungle. That being said, we are taking things a little slower these days.  I had to walk to Tops this morning for chicken and a few little things we needed and the walk there and then home (1km round trip) and I was sweating through my shirt...

Fifth times a charm?!?!

Image
Friday was a scramble in the afternoon.  J and I were scheduled to go get our fifth COVID Booster and that was at 1600 or before.  I pick up Kiddo 15:05 and by the time we got home, J was on our heels and it was go time.  So, we packed the iPad and some nibbles and headed out to get another COVID shot.  For something that was supposed to be gone by Easter… 2020.  It’s now 2023!  I have a whole rant on that, but that’s in my personal archives.  If you’d like a copy, just email. Kiddo was good and rolled with the modified schedule and needing to get to the hospital for shots and all.  She even came with J and myself as we got our shots because she liked seeing the process.  The backend of that, however, is that she’s wondering why she didn’t get a COVID Booster.  Needless to say, the friends have been seeing a lot of Dr FixItUp and there have been flu shots and COVID shots for one and all.   She was adorable at the clinic, however...

A peacock in KiddoLand

Image
Kiddo is a ham.  She loves playing up her smiles and looks and face and just enjoys turning herself up to 11 and going for it.  As a child, I was yelled at, told off, or made to change when I tried to mix things up or add some uniqueness to my life.  Now, just look at my shoes, my shoelaces, or some of the outfits and colors I put together and I can see where Kiddo gets it from… I can also understand why Kiddo doesn’t care and just wants to be her own little self.  I always think of it as her peacocking it.  Just being her, colorful and cute, whilst struttin’ her stuff.  Good on you, Kiddo! Either we go out and do cool stuff or just in her dress, Kiddo can’t help but be her.  Last weekend, J and Kiddo went to the library and then went over to a little museum that is near.  It’s an older home that has been converted and still has artifacts from the era in it.  Kiddo got to see a ton and learn a lot and (I’m told) she asked about a million an...

Comedy Gold

Sometimes we see people and they just fit in life, the world, their place, etc etc.  Kiddo is one of those people.  We see her sometimes and J and I just laugh at how Kiddo and how 5 she is.  Like, last Sunday, J was out with some friends for dinner, but I needed to get next door to the hospital for my psych meds.  So, Kiddo and I got to eat and hang, play some video games, shower, neti, get jammies on, but then, instead of bed, we got to go so Dada could have his appointment.  Yup!  Jammies, a blue fluff, and pink crocs to go with the headphones and iPad.  She got to watch some shows and I got meds.  All was good in the world and by the time we got home, the yawn monsters were in full effect.   Or, watching a show yesterday after school.  I mean, how would YOU watch a show? Morning fluff wraps with iPad and cereal…. She is just in a puddle of fluffiness and app fun. There are some that are on our all time hit list.  She was ...

You're allergic to WHAT?!?

Image
Yesterday was a fun day, albeit, a busy one.  Kiddo had a follow up with the allergist in town, so she was going to miss a day of school and have a Dada day.  She got to sleep in a little, be a little lazy in the morning, and right about 0900 we headed out for the day. The car ride into town took about an hour.  Traffic and all that.  However, I brought coloring supplies and a book, plus we had Poley.  As you can see, our lil song bird was just humming away and having a time.   Once we got to the hospital, we made our way to the Allergy Department and did our follow up.  Thankfully, the therapies we are using are working and Kiddo has and is feeling and breathing much better.  We have another follow up in two months and that will be into the rainy season and the winds will shift, so hopefully, with better air and better therapies for Kiddo, she will have less allergies and we can control things a bit better. After that, it was a short 5ish m...

Platinum Problems

Image
In the last two weeks or so, J and I have been alerted to a new and unique problem.  It seems to only happen in the evenings and (even more odd) happens to only affect the 5 year old in the house.   Last night was one of the worst .  See, the problem is hot/cold problems.  Last night, you see, it was multiple hot/cold problems.  Someone (who shall remain nameless) was having two hot/cold problems.  He feet were hot, but her legs were not so hot, but not really cold either.  The belly… hot , but the back- cold.   A retuck-in and a mumma and dada hug got it all sorted (phew) and someone was able to drift right off to sleep.  Not before, I should mention, we (J and myself) were gifted a note in rainbow colors with hearts reading - I love Mumma and Dada - and the Dada was in Blue and Yellow for Brewer Colors.   Talk about problems that will just keep you up at night.  Hot/cold problems and and love letter for Mumma and Dada. ...
