Well, that only took 116 days.

It’s 117 days into 2023 and we had our first real rain yesterday.  It was a solid rain, not torrential or outrageous and it lasted about an hour.  Just a solid rain.  Not even a lot of thunder or lightening.  Some, but not like a real full throated thunderstorm.

Today, we are back to hot and humid with little chance of rain, but the rains are coming and will scatter and smatter until then, but the rains will come.  It will continue to be hot and humid, but at least the rains will help that and knock that down bringing pockets of cool or bearable temps and weather.

Kiddo loved it.  She was thrilled and made it a point to talk about that with J and me last night.  She also mentioned that she can’t wait until it thunders and lightenings at night so she can fall asleep with her curtains open and watch the rain.  In fact, she went as far as to wish we could live in the jungle in a treehouse that was a nice tree house, but shaped like a monkey and she could have a bedroom in one ear and mumma and dada could have a bedroom in the other, but both ears are all windows so we could see all the sides and rain and lightning.  She certainly has no lack of imagination.

In the rain pics above, you can see some of the changes and updates on what our little soi looks like these days and some of the changes in place and coming.  The new structure across the street is coming along.  The pizza place is solid and we’ve eaten there at least a dozen times now.  A new chicken soup/noodle and chicken place opened and we haven’t tried them yet, but they are more lunch time and I usually eat a light lunch, so I don’t usually eat much or I have left overs.

With that, the cafe/restaurant that I used to go and have breakfast and coffee before I would blog or otherwise has changed their hours and they are now a night spot.  So, I don’t have that option for morning coffee any longer.  I have found a new place that’s about 150-200m up the road, so it’s nothing but a 2 minute walk.  It’s a bit more corporate and not as chill with somethings, but they are consistent with hours and all that.  Not quite Starbucks level of corporate, but not small business either.  I can get a decent Americano and be left alone enough to work.  Other than that, it’s got a little more green coverage than the other place.  So, I’ve made a new friend.  Its name is Stretch, mostly for the tail.  I’m told, if the rumors are true, that Stretch likes long walks on the beach, romcoms, and eating spiders in the bushes.

Unless something important or really cool comes up in the next few days, I might have some pics or vids to post, but this will be my last post for a week.  Tomorrow is a busy day for me, then the weekend, then a allergist follow up with Kiddo, but it’s only a three day week next week, so things will be busy and J and I are gonna try to carve out time to book tickets and lodgings in Vietnam during that time, so things will be busy.  Just didn’t want anyone to worry if content drops off for a week or two.

Lastly, to my American and European readers… if you get a chance to see The Cure during their current tour, please do so.  A. They are fighting against Ticketmaster and trying to have clear and fair pricing so supporting them will mean a lot.  B. I’ve seen The Cure thrice.  They are worth it live.  Very very good show.  C.  Robert Smith is 64 going on 65.  This tour is probably the last for The Cure.  As mentioned, very very good show, there may not be a next time.

Let’s go, Kiddo… The rains are finally here, but that doesn’t stop the fun, only makes it splashier.  Mumma and I can’t wait to get you to Vietnam this summer and to explore this whole big world with you.  We also hope that by the time your in college that you can go to Mars to do college.  That WOULD be cool.  We love you so much for being that adventurous, but also because you want to live in a monkey treehouse with us.  Keep being curious, creative, and constantly questioning.
