Weekend Warriors
A few Kiddoisms to start our day.
First was from the car ride back from the airport after the Vietnam trip. I couldn’t find a good place for it in the blog about Vietnam, so I’ll share it here.
I want to be a pilot. I like to fly and I like telling people where to go.
J and I both lost it and saved the quote. Been sitting on it for a month now. LOL
Also, in LA for a few days before moving to BKK and Kiddo had (as we call it now) the LA Pigeon Incident. Since then, she has HATED Pigeons. Yesterday, her and J went to the library and ramen lunch. I got this pic from J.
We have to hurry outside… pigeon duty calls!
She is too much.
She’s been doing so much growing up this summer. On top of Vietnam and doing international travel at 6 years old, she’s pushed herself this summer to do new things and accept the Mythical Yet. She can’t read a whole book… yet. She can’t ride a two wheel bike… yet. She can’t rollerblade… yet. We are working on that. We are accepting that sometimes we fail before we find success. J and I are also working on that. :)
I’ve posted vids of her rollerblading and she wants to do that more, so it will be something (especially with the rainy season coming) that we do more of. She also had an outing with J this weekend. To climb.
I used to climb. In my 20s and then again in my early 40s before health and life caught up. I’ve been warned to stay away from hardcore climbing, or to build to it slowly. The damage that has been done to my core muscles is extensive enough that I’ll never really have a strong enough to do core work like that without serious training and probably another hernia surgery, if not more. So, I’ll keep it casual.
However, J has taken to it recently. Drives me batty, as when I was climbing, she told me that it was my thing and not something she ever wanted to do. She changed her mind and good for her. Looks like the plan is that J will climb 4-6 times a month and then another 3 or 4 times with Kiddo. I’ll pop in with them here and there, just to experience the joy and have a little climb or two. Nothing hardcore, no worries. I’m happy for J. She used to hike, but BKK and living somewhere equatorial kinda takes that out of the equation. J likes to have something physical to do, but that also allows her time to think and just clear her head. If climbing peels that banana for her, then good on her for finding it.
I am glad that she’s doing it and that she’s exposing Kiddo to it. Last time I was climbing, Kiddo was tiny. About 1.5-2 years. So, I’m happy that she got exposed. Whenever I’d go, J would always tell Kiddo that one day Dada would show her how to climb. Well, Mumma… looks like you took that crown. :) Keep it up.
Also, in our weekend, we got Kiddo knee and elbow pads, as well as wrist guards, so she can start trying two wheels on her bike. J also found a cool thing; It’s a parent handle. It attaches to the bike in the same place the training wheels are currently attached and we can use that to run/walk behind Kiddo or to help her find her balance without having to do the Kid Bike Crouch. Should help us keep our stamina and save our backs as we try and try again on two wheels.
Other than that, it was just a weekend of fun. We hung out and played. J and Kiddo knocked out some errands and library and stuff like that. While they were out, J did give Kiddo a treat of Red Velvet cake. Sadly, Kiddo didn’t like it. She loooooooved it!
Otherwise, J is back in school this week for set up and meeting and all that. So, it’s a Dada/Kiddo week. Nanny Beer is working here and there (like now as I write this) and that helps give me time to blog, cook, life, etc. Tomorrow, though, is a cleaning lady day, so we need to vacate for about 90-120 minutes. J and I talked it out and we decided that it could be a Dada and Kiddo HarborLand day. I’m excited, but Kiddo is EXCITED!
It’s my last week. Then, it’s back to school. Not only will we have to deal with Kiddo and the meltdowns here and there as we do Grade 1, the happy and sad, the friends and fights, the hard homework and the easy stuff. Plus, J and her working, but also in Grad School and job hunting. Things are about to hit a million MPH. However, it will also be A alone all day. I’ve got things to do, but the life and energy of the house is different when it’s empty all day. Part of me is looking forward to it, but a larger part will miss Kiddo during the day, hanging out with J at night, having market lunch together, etc etc etc. I know it’s coming, but that doesn’t mean I need to like it.
Let’s go, Kiddo… It’s our last week before school restarts, let’s have a blast and have some fun. I can’t wait for the fun of this year, but also for the adventures that are coming. Mumma and I love you all the way and are happy to have you in the middle of every hug.
PS. Post climb lunch and Library Chillin'!
