Questions of the season

Life with a six year old can be strange and fun, but never more so than around Christmas and Birthday times.  Thankfully, we are about 5 months away from the birthday excitement, but we are in the midst of the Christmas excitement.

In years past, with Elfie, we’ve talked to her or put up notes and lists where she could see them.  This year, however, someone (who shall remain six and nameless) is using their newfound writing skills to communicate with Elfie.  Thankfully, J and I have a secret weapon of our own.  The Becksters.  Not only has she lent us her hand (haha) for a Santa letter, she even writes in a custom Elfie font for Kiddo.

Before we get to that I did want to get to Kiddo and the notebook of thoughts and questions that she left for Elfie.

I mean… Can you even with that?!?!?!

Do you like dinosaurs?  How do you stay so still?  How many bones do you have?  What’s your favorite sense and why?  I mean…. What ELSE do you ask the Elfie that can communicate with Santa?

Yes, it’s funny, but in such a cute way.  She’s so curious and willing to ask and explore ideas and the world around her.  She had questions about Elfie and elves; so she wrote them all down.  Also, as a note, she did the entire letter and notebook herself.  J and I had seen it and seen her writing in it, but thought it was just Kiddo stuff and didn’t pay much attention to it… Until she put it under the tree the other night and started giving Elfie instructions on reading it, replying to it, and that under the tree is the place to look for and leave notes.

Thankfully, Becksters was up to the challenge and is having fun with it.  So much so, that I bumped into her last night at 7 and she was loving it.  She was so happy to help and be “part of the Christmas fun and excitement.”  She also told me that it’s a blast to come home after a day teaching and pour a glass of wine and just become the spirit of Elfie for a half hour and write some notes.

Since we are on the subject of the notes, Elfie will be replying, but in the nonce, Kiddo got a little note.

First, isn’t Beckster’s work great?  If you ever meet or bump into Becksters, do us a solid and buy her a beer, a lunch, a candy bar…. Something!  :)  Second, Kiddo read that this morning and lost her mind.  She was thrilled that Elfie replied and can’t wait to get the notebook back.  Lastly, she now wonders how Elfie holds a pen and writes so big, since she’s so small.  Me thinks there will be a new question in the notebook as soon as she gets it back.  LOL.

Needless to say, it’s been a blast.  With two and a half weeks left, we are going to have some more, I’m certain.

Oh, and I’ll get a selfie one of these days, but I’ve got a mini-Santa beard going on right now.  Kiddo keeps telling me I have to shave because I’ve got so much beard that she can’t even touch my face anymore, she just touches fluff and beard.  J, surprisingly, defended my beard and wants me to keep it until Christmas.  The deal I made with Kiddo is that I would grow it until Christmas morning, but then, after presents, she can even help me shave it off.  So, there is that fun to come as well.

Let’s go, Kiddo… Today is a field trip and that was exciting.  Christmas is coming and that is exciting.  Elfie and Santa are writing you notes and that is exciting.  Keep being excited, full of life, energy, and the Kiddo wonder that makes you so much fun and always keeps Mumma and I on our toes.
