Christmas Palm Trees
There are some first year teachers, visitors, and other people that I have met recently or gotten to know this year that are baffled by the idea of a Christmas with palm trees, hot weather, and lack of snow. Maybe I’ve been in CA and Thailand too long, but I don’t really notice anymore. Next year will be the hard year for me. It will be cool or cold. It will be rainy and sleety. It will NOT be BKK or SoCal, I can say that.
While we are here though, we are enjoying it and enjoying break. It’s been filled with sleeping in and hanging out, much playing, much excitement as the DAY gets closer, and it’s been filled with Kiddo being Kiddo and just lighting up everyday in her Kiddo way.
J and Kiddo have done a few small adventures out to a park and, just today, the library at school and playground for a bit. We’ve had some family adventures to the mall and just around, but we have some more fun coming in the next two weeks or so also. The real highlight, so far, has been the Science Museum that J and Kiddo went to yesterday. I don’t yet have the full details or photos, but they will come soon and get a full post. Kiddo had a BLAST and saw, tried, and learned SO SO much. The nice byproduct of that is Kiddo slept like the dead last night.
There was even some pool and roof scooter times. To top that all off, Kiddo and I stopped by the Christmas Tree at Central and gave it a hello the other day when we broke away to hunt for a Christmas gift for Mumma.
Mostly, we’ve been moving at Kiddo speed and just doing Kiddo things. J even gave Kiddo her phone the other day to snap some pics while they were on the roof at the pool. The pics, however, sum it up. Lots of smiles and laughing. Lots of Kiddo and hugs and goofiness and the energy and excitement that only a 6 year old can bring.
For the non-Kiddo related fun, J and I did get a date night or two (one to do Xmas shopping and one for a friend of J’s who is leaving Basis soon) and both were good and fun, but we didn’t get many pics or the like. We more focused on just being with the friends we were meeting or chatting and planning the shopping we were doing. We also, just yesterday, got a letter in the post. It was from Constant Reader Doc J. Her Xmas cards are one of the things I look forward to each year and they always make me smile. So, to Doc J, Mr. E, and the Kitty Q, we send our Merry Merrys and Season Wishes and all. Many hugs and we look forward to cashing those in this summer in the States.
I’m hoping to have some time in the next few to write once more, updates on the Science Museum and all that, but in case I don’t - - -
Merry Xmas to one and all. Happy New Years as well. May the season and holiday treat you well and bring you joy. Eat, drink, and be merry. We send our best to you all and hope that Santa is good to you all this year.
Let’s go, Kiddo… a few more days until you get to have Christmas and you can finally find out what goodies you’ll get. We are excited with you, Mumma and myself. We love you and love watching you in your excitement and joy.
