Twice Maked Potatoes

Kiddo is such an expressive little person.  She has her quirks and peccadilloes that make her so much her.  We went to the clinic this weekend for a follow up for Kiddo and, since we didn’t have homework, she wanted to bring paper and markers and pencils to draw and write with and that was fine with me.  As we were waiting, I wanted to send J a message and give her updates.  The look on her face is priceless here.  She went from Ugggg, DADA! to Are you sending pics to Mumma?  Then I got the smile.  The first pic though…. Just makes me laugh.  I can not only hear Kiddo giving me grief, but I can hear my sister and see her with this same expression of distain and WTF are you doing.   Also, when it comes to expressions and faces… Here she is at BASIS with J on Sunday morning.  They open the campus for staff and family over the weekends, so sometimes Kiddo and J go to play or climb or run around or whatever.  The grounds were being wat...

Not trying, doing

The phrase, “Do or do not, there is no try” has become part of popular lexicon.  For those that don’t know it, it’s a quote from The Empire Strikes Back which is the second film in the StarWars franchise.  The character who speaks it is a wise old mentor figure.  It’s another way of say, You can decide to do something, you can decide NOT to do something, or you can decide not to decide.   When we started this adventure, that was our unspoken motto.  It’s still the unspoken motto, as a matter of fact.  J and I have never dialoged this or said it to each other, but it’s what we are doing.  Do or do not, there is no try.   We aren’t doing this on a lark.  We don’t have a safety net in this.  We have us.  That’s it.  Yes, we have some friends and family along the way, or friends that are family (y’all know who you are), but at the end of the day, it’s us.  We need to do this.  Not try this.  Not maybe do this....

Tuesday night was a bad night.  Kiddo as pretty sniffly that morning and the AQI was over 170 so when she got home in the afternoon and her voice was raspy, J and I chalked it up to allergies and air.  By that night, she was sneezing and coughing.  She was up at 23:00 and again at 01:30.  Both times, just uncomfortable and unable to sleep.  Wednesday, she stayed home and we went to Nakornthon to see a Pediatrician and see if we couldn’t get relief.  The doc suspected bronchitis due to allergic inflammation and air quality.  They gave her some meds for that and a cough syrup, but they also gave her a short course of azithromycin and a nebulizer treatment.  We’re going back on Saturday for a second nebulizer treatment and follow up.  She’s much better today.  She was back in school, as a matter of fact.   She was a little anxious about the nebulizer treatment.  I told her it was just like my CPAP mask and she’d just need to s...

Translating New Years

I’m a little behind on some blogging and sorry about that.  Thursday, J wasn’t feeling well.  She said she felt achy and like she couldn’t get traction and wake up.  Friday she woke feeling worse and with a sore throat.  By Friday evening, Kiddo was complaining of the same thing and, in thinking back, Kiddo had been kind of moody and lethargic.  Sunday, I started to feel it.  Yesterday was my “bad” day.   I thought it might be a covid variant, but testing yesterday and today have both been negative for me.  So, it’s either a virus/cold going around or it’s a covid that the tests can’t pick up on.  Either way, the girls were fine by Monday (yesterday) and seems like Monday (yesterday) was my bad day.  Today I feel like my throat is sore/itchy and I wish I could just lazy all day, but I can’t.  So, I will just have a feeling 85% day and I’m sure I will feel fine by tomorrow. I bring this up because I missed out on posting this vid...
