Shoes for Ducks
Tuesday night was a bad night. Kiddo as pretty sniffly that morning and the AQI was over 170 so when she got home in the afternoon and her voice was raspy, J and I chalked it up to allergies and air. By that night, she was sneezing and coughing. She was up at 23:00 and again at 01:30. Both times, just uncomfortable and unable to sleep.
Wednesday, she stayed home and we went to Nakornthon to see a Pediatrician and see if we couldn’t get relief. The doc suspected bronchitis due to allergic inflammation and air quality. They gave her some meds for that and a cough syrup, but they also gave her a short course of azithromycin and a nebulizer treatment. We’re going back on Saturday for a second nebulizer treatment and follow up. She’s much better today. She was back in school, as a matter of fact.
She was a little anxious about the nebulizer treatment. I told her it was just like my CPAP mask and she’d just need to sit and breathe for about 10 minutes and then it would be done. Easy. Well, that does little to ease anxiety. Once it started, she was bored, but happy as she said she could breath a lot easier and fuller. We watched some video game trailers and videos and the like to kill the time.
It was an interesting day. She was more tired from not sleeping well and just congested and uncomfortable. We just kind of hung out and rested and chilled all day. I can report that she is good enough at Uno that she beat me 3 out of 3 games. In the last one, I literally had a Wild Card left as my uno and she needed to draw. She drew a Pick 4 Wild Card and played it, giving me cards and then rallying back to win. It was a blast.
It was also interesting because Kiddo wanted to bring her homework to the clinic to kill time. She wanted to do homework on a sick day. Kiddo, how did we get you?????
Back to things we missed due to sickness and time this last week or two….
More pics from Central and a trip there. J got a few of Kiddo and I sitting and waiting. We thought they were cute pics, so it was a need to share type thing.
Also, over the summer in Vietnam, J and I got shoes made. Kiddo was bummed she couldn’t get a pair, but we weren’t sure of the quality, how they would hold up, or even their comfort. Well, I can report back that they are amazing. I’d like to get back and get another 3-5 pairs in various styles for life in Shanghai, but that can wait. Part of the deal with Kiddo was that I would be killing some of older pairs of shoes.
I came to BKK with 3 pairs of Converse and I’ve done well to walk those down to next to nothing. So, part of the killing shoes promise to Kiddo was that her and I could paint or color a pair of shoes. We got around to that the other weekend and haven’t post the results yet. Needless to say, she thought coloring shoes was the absolute height of cool.
As you can see, we had a blast and did a good job making the shoes look awesome. She now wants to be a shoe designer when she grows up, so she can “make crazy shoe designs that are fun. Maybe even some with hearts and rainbows. OH! We can do one with ducklings on them. You always say good shoes are like walking like ducks.” LOL. That is an old joke, that comfortable shoes are like walking on a pile of baby ducks. She picked up on part of that and misconstrued it a bit. Still, like my going to 7Eleven nights and her “avenging my death” it makes me smile with her little Kiddoisms.
So, we are getting back up to speed after some illness and colds, but we are in good spirits. J and I are starting to look at productivity apps and the like to coordinate our China paperwork, taxes, moving plans, etc etc. Our first try was Mondays which is a Google app. Very disappointing. It’s, basically, an excel spreadsheet with some GUI (Graphic User Interface) on it. It’s chunky and unfriendly. Remember when Google didn’t suck? Sigh! If you have suggestions, we are open to listening. Looking at Basecamp, ClickUp, and Wrike. Any input is welcome and thanks in advance.
Let’s go, Kiddo… You’re feeling better and we’ve got one more day until the weekend. Hopefully it will be fun and filled with some minor adventures. Otherwise, it’s been a bit of a week and we are glad that everyone is feeling better. Keep being you and I can’t wait for our Uno rematch.
