The day is here

As we get ever nearer to the 2 month mark of our time left here in Bangkok, we have finally gotten what it is we’ve been waiting for… We’ve finally got an independent reader!!!!! This makes for ease of travel.  In Grabs or going places now, we can toss Kiddo her book or a book that she wants to read and let her just go at it.  Also, this summer as we fly and travel around the globe, she can sink in and just entertain herself.   Also, check the video.  Look at her go.  On a book about Ebola.  J brought this home for her on Friday after school and Kiddo completely sunk into it and read to herself and Poley, completely ignoring us so that she cold read to herself.  That’s some pretty exciting stuff. Beyond that, we were all sitting around talking yesterday in the morning.  Kind of game planning the day and broad strokes on the weekend plans type stuff, but we also got talking about the summer and Shanghai and all the rest of it.  Part of ...

Two very different emails

I’ve been put in a reminiscent mood recently.  Maybe it’s the upcoming trip back to the States, but I think that I’ve been exploring my past a bit recently in therapy and working on remembering the good and letting go of the bad.  Life, it seems, has been conspiring with my subconscious and helping me with this. I was gaming last night, since J went to bed early.  She’s on the backend of antibiotics and bronchitis and she was just run down.  I had on music, but my mood was scattered.  Thankfully (for me at least) Spotify has a DJ and I could write you about 700 pages about that and about how Spotify could do so much more with it, but that’s not what this is about. Putting on the DJ mix, it was a good blend.  Some rock and upbeat stuff, but not all guitarish and the like, but pop and pop rap type stuff.  Cool groove.  From there, it got weird.  Sneaker Pimps, Radiohead, rock/electronica deep cuts and the like.  Again, I was digging i...

Kiddo and I made some vlog vids during our Dada Time last night.  I thought they were cute, so I’m posting them.  She usually hams it up a bit more in making Mumma cry, but J is back to fighting off kid germs, so she was resting.   As for her and Clucksters… She really really wanted to introduce him.  When I say we fall into KiddoLand, this is what I mean.  Brain Transplants, curlupitious, liver surgeries, rambunctious Polar Bears, et al.  Sometimes it’s just better to be silly and be in KiddoLand. Outside of KiddoLand, summer trips, life, planning, etc etc, I had this pop up on one of my socials today.   “Eat at a local restaurant tonight.  Get the cream sauce.  Have a cold pint at 4 o’clock in a mostly empty bar.  Go someplace you’ve never been.  Listen to someone you think you may have nothing in common with you.  Order the steak rare.  Eat an oyster.  Have a Negroni.  Have two.  Be open to a world ...

Twenty four nine oh one and then some.

It’s done. The summer is done.  Planned.  Scheduled.  Booked! We have, as of last night, finalized our summer.  Every flight, hotel, room, AirBnB, car, boat, and any and every other form of housing and travel is booked.   We’ve solidified plans with a few people and are working on secondary plans, days, meetings, etc.  We’ve even gotten our Brewers tickets.  So, I will get to take Kiddo to her first MLB game in Milwaukee and to see the Brewers.  I couldn’t be happier or more excited for that game.   We’ve even done some math….. The globe is 24,901mi in circumference.  This summer, we will (by my calculations and using this site ) fly and travel approx 26,833mi.  We will circle the globe and have almost 2000 miles to spare.  1932mi to be accurate, but I can just do numbers like that in my head.   Now, all that’s left is the Visas, closing the year out, closing the house, selling off what we are not taking, breaki...
