For all wondering about the bike lock situation from the last post….

Kiddo has an update for you!

So, there was that.  Otherwise, we are on the last full day of school.  Tomorrow thru next Tuesday are half days.  That means no more making lunches to take, instead I get to have lunch with the Kiddo.  Big plus for me.  Not that I mind making lunch, but it’ll be nice to have a lunch buddy at home.

Then, after 3 days and a weekend off, Kiddo will do her week long cooking class.  She’s excited for it and has been helping me cook more, including asking if she can help with flipping hot foods soon.  I offered it once, but she was kind of scared to do it, so she just watched.  The day is coming, though.

After that, she’ll do a forensic class, about blood types, DNA, and fingerprints and the like.  She’s excited for that as well and interested to learn about blood types and DNA, plus learning how to fingerprint and what goes into that…. I’ve got a feeling that some of the friends here (Poley certainly) will get paw prints and the like.  No idea how she will manage that, as she knows they don’t have real fingerprints and she can’t ink them, but she’s a creative little devil, so I’m sure we’ll see something.

Speaking of cooking, I’ve changed things up and gone to a more Mediterranean diet.  Lots more salmon and fish, tofu, and less pork and beef.  Less butter as well.  That goes against my French cooking background, but I’m learning.  I also invested in a food processor and for the first time (just earlier today) made hummus.

Still tweaking the recipe, but it’s good.  I’ll keep playing, but hummus and veggies are a great lunch option for me.  Clean and light.  Especially homemade, I can cut a ton of the oil and salt and keep it fresh and light.  I can, also, make a batch for me and add spice to it.  I’m looking into pita or flatbreads to add some starch to the meal, but for now, carrots, cuncumbers, celery, radishes, etc.  Seeing as I’ve lost 1.1kg since the procedure a week weeks ago, I’ll call it a win.  Walking more has helped and I’ve started biking as well.  Today is an off day, my hips are tight, but I did get in a stretch session and some light yoga and push-ups.  Slow and steady and back to better.

After all of that fun, we are off to Thailand to visit in a few weeks and looking forward to that adventure.  We also are seeing Kuala Lumpur, so add another stamp to the passports.  J and I will need to renew early as we are running out of pages.  After this summer and the Bangkok/Vietnam trip with BSchmittah in September/October, we’ll be down to one page left and that doesn’t work with visas in the future.  Note to self, get the big book with more pages.

Let’s go, Kiddo…. After today, it’s you and me days.  Then clubs and fun and new friends.  After that, you get to see Beer and BKK again.  Plus elephants.  Plus beach time.  Plus a new city and country.  What a life you’ve had in the last 5 years, and there’s more to come.  Thanks for taking trips and going on adventures with us.
