Changing; with Friends.

There are changes coming.  Our neighborhood is changing and, in typical Thai fashion, it is changing quickly.  I know I’ve blogged before about how quickly the malls can and do change.  How seasonally, one day nothing and then the next day, full on Xmas or Chinese New Year or whatever.  Literally overnight.  I posted the Chinese New Year vid of the Kiddo a few weeks back and had my friend Doc J reach out that she would like some Chinese New Years Decorations and we could just hold that until they (her and Mr. E) come to visit us.  Literally the day after Chinese New Year, all the shops and pop up at the mall were gone.  Poof!  No sales.  No clearance, everything must go.  Just gone.  Not just gone, GONEZERS!

In a video this week with the Kiddo (posted on Instagram and Facebook) you can see the fenced off area that was being cleared.  That used to be a whole building.  5 stories tall.  It was connected to another whole building that is being left in place.  That ain’t a simple demo job.  But, in less than a month, poof!

Next to the cafe/restaurant that is an expat hangout of sorts during the day and a rockin’ little bar/eatery in the evening, there used to be a whole fleet of stalls and food carts.  Wednesday, they were there.  I know.  Nanny Beer got lunch from one of them.  Thursday.  Poof!  Gone.  And the lot behind where they were, is going to be “developed” and 3-4 businesses are moving in.

So, things are changing here.  Right before our eyes.  Plus, from our balcony, we can see them putting up the foundations and track that will extend the train to this area. 

 

Thankfully, we have the constant of Kiddo.  And her Calvin and Hobbes friends.  I went back about 3 months and grabbed just the pics of her with a friend walking or out in public that I could find.  One or two of her friends in the house in various situations.  As much as things change, you can still count on Kiddo wanting to bring friends places with her.

Other than that, we are just getting ready for another week here.  J is covering a few classes for a colleague and friend who needed to return to The States for a funeral.  It’ll be a busy week and J will lose some of her prep time, which means more working from home at night.  So, I’ll do more showers and bed time stuff with Kiddo or J will do her normal thing and then I’ll read or geek or whatever until about 8:45-9pm when J will want to watch something short and funny before bed.  Besides that, I’m going out on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon to see The Batman with another dad from the building.  I also may have a drink one night with another guy from the building one night.

Oh, and lastly, if anyone has any opinions on a Korean or Japanese baseball team I can cheer for since MLB seems to want to waste a season.  A season which, ironically enough for MuriKKKa, is the 75th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier.  SMH.

In a post the other day, I mentioned signs at the market informing of time away.  I found one such sign in my pics and I'm posting it.  See what I mean?!?!?!?!  Also, look at the Flufferfly cocoon that is growing in our house.  I hope when the Fluffiest Flufferfly hatches that she gives sweet kisses and hugs!  :)
