Why is she our little love....

J and I have always revolved around food and coffee.  Our first date was to La Tapatia, wherein I watched J crush a chicken burrito with sour cream and then grab one of the tacos from my plate.  I introduced her to sushi and although she didn’t care for it at first, it grew on her and now is one of her favorites.  From there, we explored little places locally, be it upscale or just a greasy spoon diner.  We’ve eaten at Michelin star restaurants and food trucks.  Breweries in SoCal were a wealth of food, be it dirty fries with jalapeños or a damned good Caesar salad.  Skkkkkeeeeeeeee-Ouuuuuuuuwwwwwww!  You don’t need to get it.  J does.

Locally, we are starting to find the same.  From the new Pizza we can get at Tops (More of a NY Style, but a solid B/B+ and good toppings) to Kebabs with fries, creamy eggs with bacon, or just a waffle from Waffle Lady in the Market.  We are finding and starting to crave things.  Noddle lady and pork lady.  It’s fun, with J, to eat and do.  To get skewers on a random night cuz we’re nibbley.  And the area across the street that is currently being worked on (gentrified) is going to be (or so we were told) a new Night Market.  So, that might add options as well.  Maybe they’ll even have a bug stand and we can get bees or crickets at night to nibble.  So many possibilities.

Then there is the high class dining options that we are excited for; Like Scarlet Wine that I posted on early in this blog.  Another place we are excited for and hope to experience is G Spot by Gaggan Anand.

So, it’s fun and an experience and J and I are just taking it in a day at a time and finding things we like and long for.  Sure, we miss SoCal IPAs, Mike n Angelo’s Pizza, the diners, cafes, coffee shoppes, and all the little and big places we’ve eaten, we miss and remember and talk about.  It is one of the cornerstones of my life with J and it’s nice to see the Kiddo branching out and asking to try and wanting to experience.

Kiddo munching on Noodle Lady for lunch is too cute as well.

Tomorrow night, we are taking her to the Green Day night Market.  It’s about a Kilometer away, if I had to guess.  800 Meters, maybe.  A 10 min walk.  But, we’re gonna go and just eat and hang out.  Kiddo wants to have special time as a family and Friday nights are going to be that.  Maybe it’ll be out with others (like last week at CraftHome) and some weeks it will be just mumma, and dada, and Kiddo.  But, we’re going to be trying new things and experiencing some new places.

Besides, these days, she’s all about Poley and he’s been great in helping her want to experience things, because Poley is only a bear from Antartica who loves salmon, so he’s very excited to see places and drink things and try foods.  Therefore, Kiddo is hyped to do the same.  And, cool is something that is sold and played up in Thailand so Polar Bear Cool is a brand or thing.  These days, as summer and the hot/rainy season is upcoming, Poley gets to visit Polar Friends at the mall.  :)

The Kiddo is the Kiddo and she’s just living and loving life right now.  Very excited for an upcoming birthday.  But, there is some anxiety there.  She knows school is upcoming and she is excited for that and for friends and kids to play with and to learn to read and write and learning Thai and English and all that, but there is some anxiety as it’s unknown and (like J) Kiddo is a process person.  She doesn’t do well with surprises, better if we let her know and she can wrap her head around the idea.

But, she’s still our goofy girl.  J got new pants from the market (3 pairs for 600 baht, I think.  Maybe it was 700, either way, $20ish total and good, local, loose, good airflow pants is a steal) and Kiddo NEEDED to help try them on.  And she loves to go down the stairs.  Maybe because she’s just that active, or maybe because she knows its good for Dada to do the stairs.  But doing the stairs with her as she hold my hand and just tells me Kiddo things is one of my favorites.

As for favorites, I’ve written about J and my love for food and exploring and experiencing that.  I’ve not, however, written on the Kiddo’s love for all things dog.  But, the other weekend, we went out and I found a Bux and got some stuff done.  Kiddo and J, however, went to a corgi cafe.  The pics speak for themselves.  HAHA!  And today, with Nanny Beer, she will go to a Kitty Cafe.  I’m allergic to the point of anaphylaxis when it comes to cats, but I made sure that I had Kiddo tested for that when she saw the Allergist (and if for some reason Dr Land ever reads this, HI!) And she came back negative.  Great day for it, since I will be going into town later today to scout toy stores and party supplies, because Kiddo and J hand delivered Bday invites to our friends in the building.  A roof pool easter/bday party.  We hope to have a few kids there, because we are going to hide some eggs with candy and the like.  But, I’ll task that and see the Lumphini Park Area and that’s been on our list, so I can see it and navigate it alone and then maybe J and I can sneak away on a weekend or just take Kiddo and see the Park and area.  Besides, a day alone with my book in town in a new area to explore and experience and just hangout in, that’s always a fun day.  At least, for me.  I don’t mind eating and exploring alone.  Sure, it’s great with others, but sometimes, just a day alone is nice.  Especially here.  People watching galore!

A final note.  Kiddo.  Nanny Beer told us that Kiddo is starting to use and speak Thai with her more.  Sometimes it’s more Thaiglish, but Kiddo is starting to use Thai with Beer in daily activities.  I’m happy to hear about this and happy to hear her using her Thai a bit, but I’m also damned proud of her.  It takes a lot of courage and bravery to learn and then speak a second language; especially the first time.  Her spirit and willingness to have an adventure amazes me time and again.  I hope she reads the blog one day, if only to see how we noticed her efforts and how we are so so so very proud of her and her bravery and who she is as a person.  We love you, Kiddo.  Always know that.

OMG. I must experience the corgi cafe! I've been to a couple of cat cafes (Vancouver BC, Honolulu) but had not idea that a corgi cafe is a possibility. Corgis are my absolute favorite dog breed b/c they remind me of beloved feline Muffin who was similarly round with short legs and a sweet face. Too adorable!!!

Well, I'm 99.9% sure I could find you a companion for that trip, if you wanted. :)

*400 baht for 3 pairs of pants… that’s less than $15 usd! Janelle for the win! I love market clothes. If you want to stay cool… dress like the locals.

And Dr. J, ashi and I would certainly join you in the corgi cafe if you wanted company! They’re super cute. Bkk also has bird and horse cafes too here. It’s so cool.
