6 point 6 million reasons to be excited
Our days are starting to wind down and vacay is coming, but I still have things to do. I was able to shift things around and J’s been great with allowing me time to get those done. We are going to do the packing early next week, but we still have this week to do and some of it life related and some trip related. I was able to get some Vietnamese Dong the other day. 10,000 Thai Baht = 6.6 Million Vietnamese Dong. Also, I LOVE foreign currency! :)
I also love the strange little things we get from time to time. Last night, we got some rain. Some pretty good rain. The thunder wasn’t window rattling, more a good steady rain than a pouring storm, but it was right on top of us. It felt like the lightening was coming from right above the building at points. I snuck out to give it a look at one point and met a new friend. I just dug the coolness of this moth. THIS is a badass moth! He flew away when I turned on the overhead for some better lighting, since the flash was washing everything out, but I did get a few half decent pics. FYI, about the size of a dime in length. Little guy, but awesome!
Kiddo came home on Tuesday after a half day and we went to the clinic. She’s got some bronchitis, but we caught it early. That night was a little rough, she was up with a slight fever (38.2 - 101ish) and some pain in her side (stomach area) due to the cough she had. She was much better the following morning and she went to school. Most of this week is just clean up and play and end of year stuff, so it’s pretty easy days and she wanted to go.
Today, we were going down the stairs and Kiddo told me, “Dada, this is my LAST Kindergarten day. Tomorrow is just graduation and then done!” I needed to get a pic. First day and last day. WOW! How do we have a Kindergarten grad? I could probably go on for pages on how proud I am of Kiddo, how much both J and myself are, truth be told.
It was not an easy year. There were tears at times. New things and new friends. Thai class. School in general. Life. Turning 6. All of the new feelings and emotions and joys and sadnesses. Learning to fail, but that’s ok, because no one is perfect. Learning to succeed, even at hard things.
She (Kiddo) is the most resilient little person; able to shuck, jive, zig, zag, and jitterbug as needed. She loves it however. We had a dinner talk the other night about what’s next and things like that. Kiddo told us that she wanted to see at least 3 places. We pointed out that she’s done CA, BKK, and soon… Vietnam. She clarified for me later that night, as (I think) she was processing that and figuring out how to exactly verbalize it. She told me that she wanted to see 3 places BESIDES those. “I lived at California and that was fun. And we live at Bangkok right now. I know we get to go to Vietnam and I’m excited to see that, but I mean 3 MORE places. After a slight pause… We can take vacations too, while we do those other places, and that will mean I can see a lot more.
You’ve got it, Kiddo… Lets see the whole world. We love you.
What more can I say? She’s so curious and hungry for culture (and at 6, everything in the house, pantry, fridge, market, etc LOL) and her willingness to explore is boggling. She’s an adventurer and I’m proud of her for that, just as much as I am proud to call myself her Dada.
As for us and plans…. Vietnam first and then more. However, we would like to take a second to give shout outs to JB, Doc J, and Mr. E for their thoughts and comments on China and giving us the info we sought and well thought opinions and feedback.
Let’s go, Kiddo… we’ve got a graduation celebration left and then just a few days until we fly to Vietnam and explore there. You made it. You did Kinder! Mumma and Dada will never stop being proud of you.
