Cut to apology

Grade 1 can be tough.  Sometimes, you are just over it.  We had that with Kiddo the other night.  She was doing her homework and it was getting late and she was partly tired, but also wanted to just get on with her night.  Mumma reading time, Dada video games.  Ya know… the good stuff.

Well, Kiddo was over it and not wanting to work, but also not wanting to work any more.  She was just done.  So, we got a melt down.  She yelled at J and she “hated school and homework and all of it.”  I was at the sink and I calming told Kiddo to NOT yell at Mumma or me.  “Fine!  Then I’m going to my room.”

J and I just reminded her not to slam her door.  “I won’t!!!”  She didn’t either.  Good job, Kiddo.

Anyways, we hear her having herself a cry.  She’s just getting out all of the 6 year old feelings.  A few minutes later, we hear something from her room and go to look.  Under the door is this note:

We circled the yes for her.  But how did we get a kiddo this sweet???

We talked, we hugged, we calmed down and we finished our homework.

Some days take an extreme amount of patience.  The other day was one of them.

As for me, well…..

I was shaving the other morning and our wonderful condo and shower got me.

The showers here are small.  Also, the water sometimes just goes LAVA hot or ICE cold for no reason.  I got Lava’d the other day.  Whilst shaving.  To this result.

Yeah.  Unfun!  One second, all was normal and I was showering and shaving and the next, I was wondering if my head or the spot on my back that got sprayed hurt worse.  I then got to deal with a sliced head and the bleeding.  Oh, and I also had to finish shaving with that going on.

It’s a minor thing.  I’m not gonna die.  I’ll need to be careful next week shaving in that area, but otherwise I’ll be fine.

The challenges of a child and the challenges of a bad head.  I know, very similar.  LOL.

Other than that, I’m getting over a cold right now.  Nothing bad, but it did slow me down a bit.  I woke on Friday feeling yuck and the day just got worse.  I just had nothing in me.  I got Kiddo to school and then dragged myself to the market.  I was lucky that I got produce for soup and that we had stock and chicken in the house, so I could make a soup.  Easy enough to just have in the slow cooker all day.  J, for her part, helped me out and collected Kiddo after school and then they went to the mall to have a snack and get bread to have with our soup.  Kiddo loved the mix up in her day and had a blast.  On top of snack and bread, she also got to show off her playground skills for J.  I’m told we have a little daredevil climber girl.

Other than that, we have our paperwork and all for Shenzhen China in October.  WE are excited to see our friends from last year, J and L.  We are excited to see China and we hope to have a chance to get to Hong Kong.  Kiddo is equally excited.  She’s started a list of places she wants to see.  Japan and Korea for baseball, but also Japan for Ramen.  Paris for food and cheese, plus The Louvre.  Belgium for chocolate and they do LOTS of science there; It’s even on the money, they like science so much.  Iceland to hike on a glacier.  Vietnam again, because she “LOOOOOOVES it there”.  I don’t know if we’ve created an adaptable world traveler or a world traveling monster, but either way, we’ll have it.

Let’s go, Kiddo… We’ve only got one ticket to dance and there are no free lives here, so let’s live it to the max.  All of your places sound great and lets keep exploring and find other places that are cool as well.  Keep your adventurous spirit and Mumma and I will keep ours as well.  You are the reason we do this, but you are also the driving force in keeping us adventuring and exploring.  You couldn’t be better at being 6 and being you, so keep it up and we love you.
