Long Weekend
Thursday was Thanksgiving, but for us, it was just Thursday. Basis did a Thanksgiving lunch and some stuff like that, but for the most part, it’s just a day here. That’s fine with us, as we don’t really have a kitchen to do a Thanksgiving meal. In the past I have tried, but we’ve come to see ourselves as Expats, not Americans, so we don’t have a deep desire to celebrate the day, much like none of you (most of you, we may have Thai readers) will not celebrate Loy Krathong on Monday.
This year, however, I had company for my Thursday at home. I had a sick Kiddo.
She came in at 04:30 and again at 04:45 to get J and complain that her nose was stuffed and she had a cough. Poor baby was miserable during the day. We called her in and Kiddo and I just had a lazy day. We played a little. Watched some Zootopia. Had lunch. Watched more Zootopia. I got a coffee because I needed the afternoon boost and Kiddo wanted to come with so she “can get a little fresh air and sun. Sun is good because of Vitamin D and that will help with feeling better.” She’s such a trooper. Look how miserable and run down she looks! After that, we had a 45 minute shower because the hot and steamy helps with colds.
Good news is, we tested her twice and no COVID.
The really good news is it is after Thanksgiving, so Elfie made her triumphant return to our lives. Kiddo, needless to say, lost ALL of the bananas.
Also, with the magic and regenerative properties of a 6 year old, Kiddo is back today. She’s still got a little cough and some sniffs, but 99% better today. Also, as you can see by the outfit she picked herself, she is feeling the roar today!
What better, after a day of illness than library books and ramen? Nothing, in our opinion, so we headed out to NH Library and Washin Ramen for some books, fun, and yum. Kiddo was running out of steam after the library and walk of three blocks to meet up with me as I was writing this, so we had to manage her more during lunch, but we’ve posted a bunch of Washin pics in the past, so y’all can project and imagine.
After that, we got a cab home, did a rest, and now we are just doing the bedding and making sure everything is clean and fresh for lil miss. As I write this, the ladies are coloring and entertaining the caterpillars that are visiting until Monday and listening to Xmas music. So, it’s still a slow day and chill, but at least everyone is feeling better and back to full life.
We might have to do some shoe shopping tomorrow, but we’ll deal with that tomorrow when Kiddo is feeling even better and we can update the footwear. Sunday, Kiddo and J are scouting a possible field trip location at a place called Wow Park. It’s a science museum and they are going with another teacher in the building and her lil one, who is about 3.5, so it’ll be fun. Monday we are back to school, but it’s also Loy Krathong and so it’s more of a celebration day than learning day; it’ll be a nice transition back and then a few weeks and it’s Xmas break and we have plans for that. Serpentarium, HarborLand, maybe a movie…. It’s a fun time of year.
Let’s go, Kiddo… It’s officially Xmas season and Elfie is back in the house. Time to be fun, be cute, be excited, and be you. Happy Holiday Season to you and one and all. Until next time, make the nice list not the naughty and be well.
PS. We made ice the other day... It's a boy! LOL
