Feeling the feelings at 7

We are done with school and a week away from leaving. Kiddo was a mix of emotions the day before yesterday, yesterday, and today.  Excitement and sadness mixed together.  She is leaving friends and the place she has known as home for as long as she can remember.  It’s hard.  It’s new and scary and different and the house looks different and there is a lot going on there. She also doesn’t like to be managed.  Thursday night, she was up and down for a bit.  It was all last day stuff and missing friends stuff.  Each time she’d get up, J would offer her a hug and we’d get her settled and back to bed.  However, at 21:30, when J went to bed, Kiddo was up… again.  J asked if she wanted to hang out while J did her flossing and brushing and then she could have a Mumma tuck and goodnight. A short while after that, about 15 minutes, Kiddo is up again and sad.  I just give her a look, as I put the game controller down (I was gaming) and I ask,...

Let's go Condo Camping

It has started. The sell off and give away and packing up phase of the journey. Better than half of it all is spoken for or sold already and we are having an open house tomorrow and Thursday for people to come and grab or buy what is left and unspoken for as of now. We stressed this last time around.  We did a lot of work moving and getting stuff out, selling, bartering, and trying to maximize all of it.  In the end, it didn’t matter.  Then, we were leaving, so it had to go one way or the other.  It’s the same now.  It would be silliness to think that we are going to move a 55” TV across the globe with us and our options to ship and store it until we get there would be about what double a new TV would cost.  So, it’s going to a good home… Or it’s going to whomever picks it up off the street.  We are pretty much at that point. Also, we aren’t married to the things this time.  Last time around it was harder.   Part of that was because...

11 and counting

With two weeks left until it’s go time, as we started to pack and close down the house, and as we start the process of leaving BKK, there was a side errand that needed to be recognized. See, yesterday, J and I had our 11th anniversary. We didn’t blow the doors off or do anything overly exciting.  We ended up deciding on The Commons SalaDaeng as it gave us a variety of options and they have the beer bar there, so we could get a selection of beers and foods and try a few things and just have a night of it. We scheduled it all with Beer and she came to hang with Kiddo for the night.  We headed out and it was a good time. Tried a few things, starting with dumplings and the like.   We decided on another round of beers and we needed some nibbles to go with it, so why not get some curly fries! After that, it was time for some burnt vanilla with pistachio ice cream. As for the beers, J started with #6 (we’ve come to like Thai IPAs) and I went with #4, as I’m a sucke...

Night Spelling

It’s getting towards the end of another long school year.  Both J and Kiddo are getting towards the end of it and you can tell.  Last night, J went out and got a massage and I was happy to have set that up for her and then give her coverage to go.  It was Kiddo time and that’s good times. We were just playing and having a time of it.  Little Cup o’ Stew needed some stitches so we needed to get Doc Fix-It-Up in the house.  It was just a redo of some stitches that Poley had done.  It was on the fly and all he had to stitch with was ham that had been cut into small strips.  Don’t ask me.  So, being the Pharmaseat in the house, I was in charge of alconol and sleepy shots and Kiddo did the stitching and cutting and… well, we also needed to spoon out some of the blood that had gotten into the wound with the ham stitches.  Again, don’t ask me.  LOL We finished that and Kiddo wanted to make a blog video.  So, here y’all go. As for the...

Caramelizing the future

Three years ago, we were about where we are right now, in terms of leaving.  Flights and days were known, we had a plan, we had a little family vacation/staycation planned, and life was about to get turned upside down. Boy oh boy, did it. Some of the transition was tough.  Some of it was fun.  Some of it was… well, interesting is a good way to put it.  I mean, the Quarantini was invented for a reason.  Also, if I ever find the brand of juice in The States, I will hand squeeze that box of juice to make anyone asking a perfect Quatantini.  Yes!  Hand squeezed. We’ve made a home here.  We’ve made friends.  We’ve become part of a community.  I’ve been telling to market vendors or cafe people that we know and that see us daily and weekly that we will be leaving on the 29th of this month and that we are moving to China and across the board I am told that this is sad and we have to promise to come back and I’m offered hugs and handshakes ...
