Reading, Ramen, Raining, and my Right foot.

A few things have been going on in the last week or so since I’ve posted and I have some catching up to do.  Firstly, I’ve been away because I hurt my foot.  I stepped weird and twisted it along the arch and it’s been hurting.  It’s been getting better everyday since, but I’ve been taking it slow and staying home more, but that gets long and boring, so I’ve been reading more.

It happened Thursday night and after walking Kiddo to school I came home and put my feet up since it was hurting.  I spent most of the day icing and resting my foot and reading.  Over the weekend, I was with the ladies and I had my crown appointment on Sunday.  Monday was more rest and I finished the book I started Friday (Richard Russo’s The Risk Pool) and took my time making dinner.  Tuesday I went to get a foot and leg massage and that helped a ton.  Really helped the muscles chill and relaxed the foot.  Today is Wednesday and I took Kiddo to school today.  After that, I hit the market and did some laundry.  That caused my foot to ache and act up and little, so it was ice and rest.  Then, we had a few deliveries for meat and groceries, so I took care of that and started a new book.

It’s been nice to kind of unplug and just read a bit.  To just sink into the world of a book and enjoy it.

Over the weekend, we did get to the library.  Yes, me included.  There is a little cafe that we know that is a half km from the library and I was going to wait there for the girls and then do lunch and home.

I got a bike from the library to the cafe and then I sat, read, and thought about a blog post.  I ended up (obviously) scrapping that for this post.  When the girls came, it was a short walk to lunch and I could hobble it that far.  The rest of the day was spent resting my foot.  Also, watching a movie (Tangled) with J and Kiddo.  I even got a Kiddo lap cuddle.  Those are the best.

Saturday was also our second to last trip to the Neilson Heys Library.  In a month, we will go to return books, but not to check any out.  Until we get to Shanghai and can (hopefully) find an English Library, this is going to be our last for a while.  Also, it’s bittersweet.  We’ve come to love the NHL and it will be missed.  Also, Washin Ramen.  It’s become our little once a month family outing.  Not that we don’t do family outings regularly, but this trip is static.  We all know how it goes.  It’s our time.  It’s a library Saturday and we all just know how to fall into that and be us during that.

It’s that time for us though.  The end time.  The closing time.  We are getting ready to roll out and we have to close out things.  Take our last trip.  Do our last visit.  Eat for the last time.  Etc etc.

Also, Sunday, with my crown and that taking… Who knows how long, we didn’t want to lock ourselves in to short choices for dinner, so we decided to hit up Pho Real Hot Pot.  I’ve written about that before.  But, it was a good excuse to go and a good excuse to have that.  Probably for the last time as well.  J and I have some good and fun memories there and the food is wonderful.

Besides that, the rain is back!

Not totally.  It’s still getting the knack of being rainy, but it’ll get there.  Saturday, having ramen, we got rain.  Until about 3pm.  Then it quit.  Sunday, it didn’t start raining until 2:40pm and I should know, I was just getting on the back of a bike to go off to my dental appointment.  Thankfully the office is 1.3km away, so I didn’t get soaked, only wet.  Monday, it rained a bit in the afternoon, but was done by 4pm.  Yesterday, it sprinkled for about a hour, but not really rain, more fits and starts.  Today, as of 4:30pm, it’s dry.  Tomorrow and for the next week, we have 55-80% chance of rain each day.

So, the rain is coming back.  J and I are hoping to see one more hellacious rain storm before we go and are also looking forward to spending a night with the curtains open and lights closed so we can just watch and lightening storms and listen to some music.

Let’s go, Kiddo… The rainy season is close at hand and the fun is about to begin.  A few weeks from now, we’ll be on the road and we’ll be on to different types of summer storms, new kinds of weather patterns, and a whole new world to explore.  We can’t wait to do it all with you.
