Oh the weather outside is frightful.....
Finally…. Finally….. Break is here. Not quite, not 100%, since J still needs to go in all next week for PD and Training and stuff like that, but for Kiddo it is here.
The days before the break were filled with some last minute stuff and finalizing the year, but grades were done and already put in, so it was more turning in late work and doing all the end of quarter stuff. Teachers know. There was also a performance in Chinese Class and Kiddo was the leader for her class. She got to get up and do the speaking parts with her teacher. The other kids had a line or two here and there, but Kiddo had about a dozen lines. Then, it was time for the dance, which again, Kiddo was right out front and center for. I’m super proud of her…. Not just for the Chinese language skills, but also for the performing. I hated stuff like that when I was her age and would purposefully tank myself so I could avoid doing that. Kiddo loves it. She gets nervous and anxious before hand, you should see her the day or two before; There is lots of hugs needed and J and I doing multiple tuck ins and just letting her get the emotions and anxiety out, but she’s usually chilled out by 21:30 (9:30pm) and all is well in the world.
Now that break is here Kiddo got to have a playdate with H yesterday. They went iceskating and let me tell you; Kiddo is something else. She had never ice-skated before and only had the couple of times on the rollerblades back in the BKK days, but look at her! Yeah, it’s not exactly Olympic level figure skating, but for an 8 year old that has never done it before, she’s good. She reported it as “The funnest ever and I insist that we go again before winter is over” so we are pretty sure that it was a blast.
After that, they went to Hotpot and look at Kiddo being a chopstick PRO! Two nice things about that. First, it’s a good skill to have in today’s world. Second, when we do travel to Vietnam next month, we can forget her “cheater chopsticks” and just hand her a pair wherever we are and everyone can go about eating. It’s been a struggle so far, either having to remember the cheaters or having to help or both. Now…. FREEDOM! Everyone can just eat.
The girls also did what H’s mum called, “Eye Shopping” and when did our baby become a teenager??????? I’m not crying! HAHA. They are so darn cute together and don’t tell me that you can’t see the 16 year old in her all of a sudden.
The real news of the last week is the weather. Im going to let the vids speak for that.
So, that’s about everything for the last week. We are leaving in about 10 days and we are looking forward, more than we can say, to warm and tropical temps, lazy beach days, bowls of Pho and just munching on banh mi as we walk down the street. After that, we’re going to have our adventure in a place that we are yet to make public. Not that it’s a mystery or secret, but because sometimes you all have to just wait and I kind of want to have a reveal with it. Makes it more fun. Plus, give you a reason to come back next month and read more. :P
Let’s go, Kiddo…. You and I have a fun week together that will include some vacation readiness stuff, some PT for me which you want to see, and some hanging out in Ranza and doing some doctoring and other stuff. Then, finally, Mumma will get her holiday break and we can get on our travel and adventure hats and go have some fun. We love you and can't wait to explore and see with you.
