Top Kiddo... That is my belief.
J has been working this week, but Kiddo and I have been having some fun. We needed to run some errands and get to IKEA, but that was easy enough and we got to go out and have some fun. Kiddo got some play time, but the highlight of it was….
WE FOUND POPEYES!
I can’t tell you about my love for Popeyes and their chicken, so that was a real treat. It was also nice to share it with Kiddo…. While watching her CRUSH some chicken.
Speaking of food, J and I had some time alone while Kiddo was at H’s birthday party and we tried a new place that popped up recently around the corner from us. A new noodle place. Let me just say, this place was good. Really good. J and I tried a few things and shared and I don’t know what was better since it was all so dang good. The broth, the noodles and their springy bite, the dumplings in a hot and sour soup that were filled with porky goodness; I want it all and I want it now.
Kiddo has also been on her food thing. She’s gotten so much better with chopsticks and almost refuses to eat without them. Even spaghetti the other night….
Plus, you can see her gaining confidence in using them. With Vietnam coming up soon, it’ll be so nice to be able to grab her and go and eat and not have to worry about if we remembered her cheaters or if she can manage or if we’ll have to take turns helping her eat. We can just sit and munch. That’s a game changer.
For her, “That is my belief TOM”, that’s a Top Chef quote.
She’s really been loving Top Chef and thinking and talking about food more. Dipping her toes into more and different foods, but also having an appreciation for food and waiting to try more and she also has a want to meet and see some of these chefs and what they do. It’s cool to see her wanting to explore more. So, we are just allowing that and exploring with her. We have a few options in Saigon that we might pop into and try a Michelin Star place. If not this trip, we are planning to get back to BKK this summer and there is a restaurant there called Maze, run by a chef that was on Top Chef (season 20 - World All-Stars) and she (chef May) has a Michelin starred place in BKK and she does an ala cart menu at lunch, so we can talk Kiddo there.
I also got a laugh as we picked up two new plates at IKEA. Out plates are all green and blue. Being puckish, as I am wont to be, I got a pink and a purple plate to mix in. Kiddo predicted that J would be exasperated by this and did her best Mumma being exasperated by Dada impression. I can’t stop giggling at this and I wish I had a video of J doing the same, because it is spot on.
It’s been a week of me and Kiddo doing Kiddo and Dada stuff. We are currently sitting around watching Moana 2 and chilling. It’s a cold and sleet filled day, so we’re just staying warm and cuddled with some friends and a movie. Not a bad day.
We have to pack this weekend and get Kiddo some new Crocs so she can beach around Vietnam, but other that that, we are set. Also, we got Kiddo set up with her own Kindle account and a library card, so we can feed her books on the iPad instead of trying to figure out the logistics of bringing her enough books to keep her happy and entertained. Big perk there and talk about some big girl stuff.
Last thing, when it comes to Kiddo and big girl stuff, she’s been FaceTiming with her friends. Yesterday while I was making dinner she was chatting away and giggling and just being her. J came up to me in the kitchen and wondered aloud - When did we get a teenager. I’m sayin!
Let’s go, Kiddo…… It’s almost time to travel and get into some warm weather. We get to eat and see and explore. We get to beach and have sandy toes again. We get to have some clothes made. Then, we get to see a new place. Still keeping that secret for now, until we get there and can get pics and explore it a bit, then we can do a proper write up and break down of it. Can’t wait to see it all with you.
