Soup-er rain and pretty flowers

Image
The weather has been rainy and overcast and we’ve been feeling autumnal, and the fates have cursed us with illness as well. Over the weekend, Kiddo was sniffly and sneezy Friday (It was a long weekend and day off, so she was home) and just run down.  With the weather and air quality coupled with her allergies and no fever, we thought she just got a big bunch of pollen, etc and she was miserable with allergies.  We cranked up her air purifier, gave her some extra allergy med (she usually gets a half dose, we gave her a full dose) and the next day she was better.  By Sunday she wasn’t sneezing anything more than normal, so we wrote it off to bad air and bad allergies. Monday, J complained she felt run down.  Tuesday she was feeling worse.  Wednesday was sniffling and sneezing and sounding plugged up and like she had a cold.  Today, J took the day from work and has slept most of the day.  I started feeling it yesterday and today is worse.  Sniffl...

Written up for rain

I wish I could roast a whole chicken today.  Or make a pot of chili.  The last few days have been rainy and grey and it puts me (and J as well) in as autumnal mood.  However, it’s still hot with humidities hanging around 80%.  So, it’s not like we can just open the windows and enjoy the cooler temps.  Besides that, the air quality hasn’t been great, so it’s better to keep the windows shut anyway. Outside of that, we just sit back in wonder and awe of Kiddo.  She wrote her name in Thai the other day.  HOW COOL IS THAT?????  I might know 40 Thai words and can write none of them.  J probably knows 100 words and might be able to write one or two things.  Kiddo, she’s writing her name and speaking a bit of Thai with Nanny Beer and friends at school.  This is a big part of why we took this adventure.  Besides, what does she get to learn next?  Vietnamese?  Korean?  Japanese?   She got a pink milk as a treat thi...

So much for waiting

As noted in the previous post, we did Immigration offices and that all went as it went.  Our advocate was great, but then, Kung is always great.  If she happens across this, thanks and you rock.  Kiddo, however, was just doing Kiddo things as we waited.  Made for a pretty easy trip, all told.  We got back home by 4:15ish (16:15) and we left 12:30ish, so saying it was quick is relative. As you can see, Kiddo is just full on Kiddo mode.  Little bit of Lion Guard can get anyone thru Immigration.  HAHA Shortly after we got home, however, the rains started.  It rained like this off and on until I went to bed at 11pm (2300).  I was told, by the lady we know at the cafe across the street from us that the rains calmed at around 0200.  Yesterday was just a drizzly grey day.  Today is a respite until 1400 or so.  Then we have 60-100% chance of rain with more heavy rain warnings.  Good thing it’s a Friday Family night and we’re ...

Buggin' Out

Today, we go to Immigration for our Visa for the year.  That’ll be what it is, but it will probably take a little bit of time.  That’s cool, though, because J’s school has an advocate for us and that helps keep things moving.  We have to just be there in person, be polite, and answer the questions asked of us; Where do you work, do you plan on leaving the country during the year, do you plan on committing illegal acts in the country… That kind of stuff.  So, all standard and just doing what we do. Thankfully, we can keep Kiddo entertained.   See, J found an English library that isn’t too far from us and Kiddo is now a member, so we will have a lot more library trips in our future.  Plus, it’s near a ramen place that I found when I took my pants into town to get them altered before our anniversary meal.  If you’ve been reading this and know anything about Kiddo, you know that she loves her some ramen.   The plus is that we have a wealth of lib...

What a weak... Night of sleep

Last night was a night. It started in the morning, the day before really.  Yesterday was Meet the Teacher night at BASIS, so J had to do her part of that and work with her team on the presentation and set up in the small auditorium.  At least, I think it was the small one.  It seemed to small for the grand events that I’ve been told happen.  So, it’s been a few busy days for J.  Plus an early release day.  And some weird and late nights for me and J both.  That left Kiddo a bit out of sorts;  We’ve spent time with her, but we’ve had to shave off a half hour here and a half hour there. As the parent, it was nice to go and see the classroom and meet the teacher and all that.  J was great, as was the rest of the staff.  It was fun seeing J do her thang as well. That said, Lil Miss had a bad night.  She was up a few times.  I was up at 10:57 when she came out and wanted to know what I was doing.  I was playing MLB: The Sho...
