What a weak... Night of sleep
Last night was a night.
It started in the morning, the day before really. Yesterday was Meet the Teacher night at BASIS, so J had to do her part of that and work with her team on the presentation and set up in the small auditorium. At least, I think it was the small one. It seemed to small for the grand events that I’ve been told happen. So, it’s been a few busy days for J. Plus an early release day. And some weird and late nights for me and J both. That left Kiddo a bit out of sorts; We’ve spent time with her, but we’ve had to shave off a half hour here and a half hour there.
As the parent, it was nice to go and see the classroom and meet the teacher and all that. J was great, as was the rest of the staff. It was fun seeing J do her thang as well.
That said, Lil Miss had a bad night. She was up a few times. I was up at 10:57 when she came out and wanted to know what I was doing. I was playing MLB: The Show and pitching in a playoff game against the Dodgers. I was working on a 1 walk no-hitter. There was one out in the 7th. So, I was about 15 minutes to bed, but I wanted my no-no. After getting her back to bed, I got a quick pop out to right, lazy fly ball. Walked the next guy and got out of the inning. No-No still intact.
Ended up giving up a dribbler that squeaked into center, but a one hitter with 2 walks in a playoff game…. Not shabby at all. Take that LA. LOL
I went to bed after and last I looked at the clock, it was 11:38. A little after midnight, I got smacked again. Kiddo needed help with her blankets. Sigh!
Around 4:30, she was back. J had been up with her 3 times in between. So, I dealt with her again. Got the blankets right and gave her a few minutes of rubs and made sure the sounds and lights were right and at 4:47, I went back to bed.
A bad night of sleep. I’m sure everyone reading this who’s had a five year old in the house knows the feeling. Thank goodness for coffee. And espresso. And more coffee with espresso shots added. HAHA
We did see a HUGE snail on the walk to school though. I half thought about keeping it. Might be a faster way to get around. Seriously, all I’d need is a harness and saddle.
In all of this, though, Kiddo is still Kiddo. I mean, when you find her sitting like this watching a show, you know that she’s in full Kiddo effect. Why is she sitting like that???? It’s more comfortable this way, Dada! Oh, well, clears that up.
Also, yesterday, I was getting ready. She was dressed and hair done, gave her allergy meds, and she’d brushed her teeth. But, I left her with the iPad and her book app and she was doing stories. Showering with no hair takes me 8 minutes door to door. I was pulling on a shirt and about 10 seconds from walking out when I heard a little knock. Come on in, Kiddo.
She walks in, looks at me and crinkles her nose.
Why’s it stinky in here?
Sorry, I farted.
Dada, that’s DISGUSTING!
Sorry and disgusting…. You fart all the time, tooter booter!
No, Dada, I toot. You fart. That’s gross.
And with that, she turned on a heel to leave. What did she want… Socks. OK, so grab socks and put them on. She’s just learning to do socks herself, so she needed to show off. Kiddo couldn’t be more 5 if she tried. HAHA
The good news is, tomorrow is a day off, so it’s a three day weekend. Bonus for one and all. The only downside is that it might be a super slow day for J and myself. We are getting a COVID Booster today at 4pm, so I’m sure tomorrow will be like it usually is a day after a COVID shot; Slow and lazy and feeling 70%.
Let’s go, Kiddo…. A long weekend is coming and it’ll be Mumma and Dada days. Let’s all sleep in and have some fun.
