A peak behind the curtain
Today, we’re going to lead off with me patting myself on the back. A cold got into the house and J was first, I was next, and now Kiddo is a bit sniffly. Kiddo is a kiddo and J works with kiddos, so I know that illness is a standard and constant. To help combat that, I got us some flowers to add some life and color to the house and I made soup. Chicken with veggie and we served over pasta. I even send Nanny Beer home with a bowl so she could try since she told me the house smelled so good. I boiled chicken feet for a few hours, removed and added mirepoix, let simmer for a bit and then tweaked my flavors. Some tomatoes for acid and balance. Some pan cooked chicken breast (cooked rare) and then cut into bite size pieces and added. Fresh carrots, celery, onion, garlic, and some bell pepper. It came together really nicely. Beer also had many nice things to say and only added she wished it had more salt. I disagree with that, but can see the argument. Besides that, the best thing about soup is the leftovers. Two meals out of one prep and cook. That’s a meal I can get behind.
We revisited The Princess Bride on Friday for Family Fun Night and Kiddo got a little silly during it. She told me she wanted to cuddle with me. Then this happened. KIDDO!!!!!! HAHAHA. Once she got all the wiggles out, we watched the rest of the movie and then she had the week catch up with her and crashed. Before that, however, a seat atop Mt. Dada.
Speaking of silly Kiddo, the other night, she needed something. Who knows what. “My blankets need fixing” or “Bad dreams” or “I don’t like my sounds” (She gets sleep sounds for an hour at bedtime, usually rain or birds or campfire or the like). Basically, what she wanted was extra attention and love. So, I go to tuck her back in and make the world right. She’s in the room a good minute before me because since I was up, I grabbed a quick glass of water before heading into her room. She had her window curtains open and was laying with her head in her hand and her elbow on the bed. Just chilling.
Hey Kiddo, why are the curtains open?
I wanted to see the beauty of Bangkok before I did my sleeping.
Oh! You want me to close them for you now?
Dada…. Am I sleeping?
So, that happened. And I got a preview of 16 year old Kiddo. I might just have to strangle her now and get a jump on that. LOL
The next morning, J and Kiddo headed to BASIS to do some playing and I got sent this pic. It’s pretty easy to forget the attitude from the night before when you see this kind of happiness and glee. And then she got to wear a home made crown.
I gotta tell you, 5 is a fun age. A lot of work. A lot of patience needed. A lot of just accepting feelings and all the emotions. However, at the end of the day, J and I just smile at each other and love the heck outta Kiddo!
Let’s go, Kiddo… It’s time for more fun and adventures. Or just a seat on my chest during a movie again.
