Buggin' out for Cooking and Waffles

On Friday, I headed to BASIS shortly after lunch for a little event at Kiddo’s school and with her class.  They have been studying the world and different places and countries.  Kiddo’s teacher is Belgian, Kiddo is American, some of the other kids are Thai, and there is a Chinese influence (and a few kids, but unsure if any in Kiddo class) as well.  So, they did foods and facts from the world.

Kiddo was most hyped for Belgian Waffles.  As you can see, she is the BEST at mixing.  Must have been all the pancake practice her and mumma do on Saturday mornings.  Also, the class made chef hat to go with her expertly picked outfit that included the Tutu.  The funny thing is, she told me that she was saving that tutu pacifically for that day.  I double checked.  Pacifically!

We also got to make gyoza (dumplings) and Kiddo loved that.  “It’s like a taco, only no guacamole.”

The highlight, of course, was the waffle.  She made it, chocolated, and sugared it herself.  Then she gripped it herself.  HAHA

That day was also a classmates b-day and so the kids all got a little party favor.  An egg, that when submerged in water, would hatch a Dino!  World, meet Broccoli the Brontosaurus.  Then, it was craft time.  Just some light painting… ON EVERYTHING!  I think the goal was, pacifically, to get paint on as much as possible.  Including ourself.  No worries, though.  A mid-morning shower and Kiddo is clean as can be.  The rest of the mess… we’ll just burn it all down and start again.  :)

With Friday being busy for everyone, we pushed Friday Family Night to Super Saturday Family Night.  Well, Green Day Market was the want of Kiddo.  Done!  Unfortunately, Saturday was a 90% chance of rain and the skies opened up about 18:45 (6:45pm) so it was best to not go that day.  We just kind of hung out as a family and played.  Today (Monday) is a holiday so schools are closed.  Therefore, Sunday Funday Family Night at Green Day was on.

The plan was hotpot and yum.  However, we cruised first and saw if anything would catch our eye.  One thing did.  Even Poley was in agreement that YUM!  So, watch below.  Three people born and raised in America are given a cup of fried bugs in a SEA night market.  Let’s see what will happen.

Other than that, Green Day is always a blast.  And the place was popping.  We also bumped into a Thai Staff member of BASIS whom J works with.  She was thrilled to see us there and chatty.  I’m sure word will get around that Miss J goes to Green Day and eats Hotpot and had a cup of bugs.  Also, we walked there (1.1km) and home, so we got some miles on those little legs.  Magically, Kiddo stayed in bed all night and didn’t need to get up 6 times.  Hhhmmmmmm.  Maybe it’s time to start talking night time walks.  HAHA

Oh, and feeding the fish is always a good afternoon journey.  Besides, when you have a pig named Porkchop, sometimes you gotta get out and see the fish.  Well, let’s not forget the chickens that needed some introductions and talking.  Besides, Kiddo showed us that she spoke chicken and could squark it up with then, so everyone was in good hands.  After that, why not watch a movie and just chill out in Dada’s chair, all fluffed and comfy.

Lastly, I know it’s not yet Halloween, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start getting in the Christmas Spirit.  Yup.  This happened.  Yup.  She picked it herself with no influence from us.  Yup.  She is singing along.  Yup.  This is life.

Let's go, Kiddo... Time to sing, play, paint, cook, eat, try, and enjoy.  I'm very proud of you (and mumma) for eating some bugs.  For having fun.  For being you.
