Life is short.  And we have one go at it.  A lifetime is a long time, but when you think about it, it’s really not that much time.  I almost had my ticket punched in my 20s and at 41, so maybe I’m more sensitive to that than most people, but I do think about stuff like that.  And not in a political or “we need to do more with life” kind of way.  In… IDK.  In a way.  Read to the end, you’ll see. I’ve been doing some napkin math recently.  I thought some of you might enjoy that; some of you for the math, some for the insights into my thoughts, and some just for the fun of it. The average person lives approximately 80 years.  However, the start of life is focused on growing, developing, and becoming.  Let’s call that the first 5 years.  That leaves us with a 75 year period. I’ve read that “you sleep a third of your life.”  Yeah yeah.  A lot of that is in those end years and first years; I’d say most people are more like...

It’s been a while since I’ve written about myself and what’s going on with me and not focusing on Kiddo, but today I’m here to catch y’all up on a few things. In the last few months, I’ve been struggling with my health.   I broke a toe in Vietnam and then after that I strained a shoulder muscle.   This lead to a breakout of shingles and let me tell you; that is NOT fun.   Come early September I can get the vax for that and believe you me, I can’t wait for that day, because anything to lower the chances of that happening again.   Ugggg.   The muscle weakness and nerve pain were much. That, however, lead to the doctors wondering why I had such high blood pressure.   It was a trend.   In the last 6 months, my low had been 140/90, but I had seen the doc for illnesses and the like.   I, and the doctor I saw for my flu vax, wrote it off to anxiety for seeing a Chinese doctor.   In BKK, I needed to go in about every 75 days to get my ADHD meds and t...

Last night was a night.  Oh, the joys of parenthood.  The day was weird and we had all slept weird the night before, so that was part of it.  Also, J and I had made plans with Nanny Beer to stay late and eat with Kiddo.  We had plans to go to the hospital and do a well check that is needed for our China Visa.  Thankfully, Kiddo doesn’t need to be part of this.  We (J and I) went and found out that 16:00 was the cut off for being seen.  The thing is, J is contracted until 17:00 (or 16:45, something like that) and so she asked permission to leave early and was told she could leave 16:30.  We went and boomeranged home.  Canceled with Beer and she was fine with that, but we still took Kiddo to Plurn Dee for dinner. After that, the fun started.  First, though, some background will help. Kiddo goes to bed 20:00.  It’s a bit early, I agree, but she’s also more of a morning person (like J) and even if we let her sleep in, she’s up 07:00...
