About the author
Saturday evening, we headed out with plans to get dinner and then see Kung Fu Panda 4 which just started playing here this last Friday. I checked online for showtimes on Friday and there was a Saturday showing English with Thai subs at 18:00. Perfect for lil miss. Walk to eat, walk to cinema, watch movie and be pumped, walk home as she regales us with recaps and Kiddoisms plus any new ninja moves learned/invented while watching, and then to bed and sleep like the dead.
The best laid plans…..
We were walking past the cinema on the way to dinner and we popped in to get tickets. Nothing at 18:00 (6pm) for KFP4 in English. Seems that due to the popularity of the film, they moved some of the times around for more Thai language showings. Bummer, but we can do a movie next weekend and, I learned, after 11:00 on Friday, they have the weekend show times set. Friday I can walk over and buy tickets for the Saturday show time we want and done. Bit of a bummer, but not all bad. Kiddo rolled with it well enough. No major meltdowns or blow ups.
Instead, we went home and watched a movie. Kiddo has been asking about Inside/Out and we are moving and doing things like that soon, so it seemed to be a great choice. J and I love that movie and it really hits all the parent points, so J was a teary mess by the end. Kiddo loved it and loved her family movie night, so we turned an L into a Win.
Sunday was a chore day in the morning, since Saturday night ended up being a 02:30 neti pot for Kiddo since she was pretty plugged and snorty. I was on laundry and bedding and J and Kiddo vacuumed and dusted her room and gave it a good deepish clean. After that, Kiddo wanted to have some fun and her time.
Quick aside, last week, I slipped on my diet and wasn’t careful and ate some things that I should be careful with or avoid. Due to that, my diverticulitis was acting up and I had some stomach discomfort. I’m fine and it’s no worries, but I’d rather have a slow day and chill than push it too far with my stomach. So, Kiddo and J went out to a cafe and I just stayed in and did my thing and then had a mid-day nap for an hour. Well, J and Kiddo did they’re thing and had lunch before heading up to the pool for almost 3 hours.
Before that, at the cafe, Kiddo wanted to work on her book.
Yes. Her book. Kiddo is writing a book. It’s about her life and friends and world… She takes pics with J and then they print them on a little photo printer that J has and they tape them into the book. Kiddo then writes whatever she needs to about the friend/friends in question. Maybe one day soon I can have her Vlog it and explain a bit and show off her work. As of now, it stands at 7 chapters and 34 pages. As you can see, she is diligent in her work and really taking it seriously. J and I can’t wait to see the end result. Also, here is the “About the Author” pic and the pic that Pork Chop had for his chapter.

What do I write???? |
Pork Chop has been a good friend recently. He was excited to see KFP4 with us, but alas. I wonder if he’ll still be the friend of choice when we go see the movie next week. Speaking of friends, Kiddo told us that she hopes to bump into a friend from school at the movies next weekend. She’s starting to get that social thing down and think about it and where/when/how that may affect her while out. Social skills are an interesting (and somewhat hazardous) thing to develop and navigate. We told her that if she wanted she could sit with her friend(s) if we see them at the movies. She (kiddo) was sort of noncommittal on that, but it’s ok. In the moment, she can choose. I’m sure it will be parents in one row with the kids in front, depending on the space. Social Skills for J and I as well. ;P
Across the foot bridge we go. |
Other than that, it was a weekend. With my stomach how it is, I’m cooking bland and easy foods right now. Chicken breast and mashed potatoes was yesterday. Although, it was good to have mashed potatoes. It had been a while. I can’t wait for this summer and a baked potato while we are in the States. I mention dinner, because I had company for part of the cooking. Kiddo joined me to chat and play with her fidget toy for a few minutes… And to prove she is the best at being 6, she needed to “sit the most comfortable way.” I can’t even with her sometimes.
Comfortable??? |
Oh, and we fly in 104 days. 104! Time grows nigh.
Let’s go, Kiddo… We will be in double digit days until we leave by next weekend and we have a lot to do. KFP4. Library. And in a month, someone will be 7. We’ve had adventures and experiences in the first 7 years, but what will the next 7 be like and who and what will you be by then? We can’t wait to explore more with you and watch as you uncover that and so much more.
