The Bat, the Bear... THE MACHINE!
First things first, I finally remembered and got a chance to walk over to the market and record that to give a sense of life and the market. Enjoy!
In other news, Pengi is a new friend and has been one of the favs in the last few days. Kiddo has really been loving Pengi, but….
Pengi is only a fledgling. When she gets hungry, she bleats. She often needs to get her diaper changed. Poley, who has experience with his baby sister Snow (another polar bear friend), has been caregiving. It’s an exhausting job. HAHA
As you can see, Kiddo needed to wrap Pengi in her sweatshirt at the Mall the other day so Pengi wouldn’t get cold.
Also, have you ever been so excited to go to the mall that you skip hop bounce walked? Kiddo’s got ya, if not.
Before we get on with the excitement of Kiddo and life, we’ve got a package update.
It ARRIVED!!!!!!
97 days late. 97 days!!!!! At a total cost to us of almost $700, not counting the ~$65 of goods in the box.
So, why don’t we want things shipped…..
Because if you know The Princess Bride, you will know of The MACHINE. That is what this experience has been for me. 97 days and I feel like I lost a year of my life. Because it was so much to do, mostly in Thai. Which meant that I needed to trust in others to assist me as needed, but also, I was so in the dark. I couldn’t read the forms. I was out of the loop with a lot of this, but I needed to be empowered to get this all done. It was our fault for bringing in some of the items, but also, even stuffed toys are not allowed without special importer lic waiver and all that. It’s hard to know and we didn’t, but ignorance is no defense. So, 97 days that felt like a year of my life. But, it arrived.
And part of that was so Kiddo could get a new bat friend. She had a bat friend named BatCup. He was lost in the first week or two of Nanny Beer working with us. It happens. BatCup probably was forgotten at the park or something. Beer felt terrible and is now more careful with friends and Kiddo while out. But, we were getting the box, we could get a Bat. It was an Amazon order anyway. Found and reordered and sent to our boy Schmittah… and then waiting and waiting and waiting.
Finally, Kiddo got to meet her new friend. Son of BatCup, BattieCup.
As you can see, the excitement is over the top.
But that’s how it is with the friends. They are real, unless they’re not.
With Poley the other day, he was doing spy training and that involved “jumping”. Basically, it was Kiddo tossing Poley up toward the ceiling and if he landed on his paws, he passed, otherwise, he needed to train harder. As the voice of Poley, at one point after 3 or 4 missed jumps in a row, Poley mentioned he was tired and needed a rest. “Dada…. He’s stuffed. I’m throwing him. He can jump all day.” Two minutes later, Poley jumped and landed sideways, but suddenly, it was because he broke his leg, bumped his ear and needed surgery on it, and he got the juice toots. Schrödinger’s Poley!
Tonight, J and I head off on our anniversary dinner. In a few hours, as a matter of fact, Beer will arrive and we will leave for our hotel. Chill. Relax. Adult. Has a rooftop drink. Have some canapés. Then venture off to the meal of a lifetime. A true food experience.
That brings me to this quote I found. Also, I hope you found peace in your after life, Mr Bourdain…. And we are! Because J and I can’t see a place with little plastic stools and tables and not hear your voice.
As a close, the other night I made chicken tacos. Simple and good. Kiddo and J destroyed them with the quickness. And J mentioned something about my guy JR and how we should have opened a Taco Truck together, because how fun! Granted, we wouldn’t be here, blah blah. It was just a convo and a fondness for old friends and flavors and that’s when Kiddo chimed in. “Making tacos with Dada is fun, but eating them is MORE fun.” You’re damned right, Kiddo!
Let’s go, Kiddo…. It’s almost been a year and we still have a ton more to see.
