The days change, the fun stays the same.
With the new school year and all the changes in life, Kiddo and I needed to change up some things as well, including our special Kiddo Dada lunch. After a week of tears and missing Dada during the school days (even though every day coming home was “the greatest day ever….”) and the newness and courage that it takes to start something new, Kiddo and I talked and decided to make it a Sunday Funday Dada and Kiddo lunch. J had work to do anyways, since the start of the school year is always busy, so it was also a good way to get her some free time and quiet time where she didn’t have to worry about Kiddo being underfoot.
Honestly, I liked that J was busy. It gave Kiddo time to just sink into her Dada time. We did some cooking and the she wanted to show me one of her apps and show me how much fun it is to play. She showed me how the app worked and then told me it was my turn and coached me thru it. Talk about riveting stuff. It was great, however, to just sink into Kiddoworld for a while and have her just hang out with me and giggle with me and just be Kiddo with me.
An hour later, we were off to the mall. It’s hot today (93 when we left for the mall, 97 returning ((34 to 36 for my Euro folks) so we got the Tuk there and back. As usual, she was her content and cruising self on the Tuk and just enjoying the views.
Lunch and the mall was a blast. We fell into our usual fun of missions, purple ninjas, booby traps and needing to jump over the lava at the mall (the black tiles on the floor) on top of our usual lunch and hunt for a PS5 (probably won’t see that until October at the earliest, but we still have our routine of looking, so we look) and today, since it was a new and special Dada Kiddo day, “why not have an ice cream treat, that’s pretty fun.” OK, twist my arm! HAHA
She picked the seats. “Aren’t these the comfy*est seats you’ve ever been in Dada?” Yup, Kiddo, the ice cream place at the mall…. Top notch comfort. LOL.
She was just having a blast. Chatty. Funny. And rolling with the punches. We had a little cap incident at McDs and Kiddo got some soda on her shirt and pants. Then, we had a ketchup cup fall to the floor, making a mess. We just rolled with it, wiped up, and then put on a sweatshirt. “Whew! Good thing we had the sweatshirt. Walking around the mall with Coke on your shirt would be embarrassing.”
Because of the lid, I started holding the cup for her when she was thirsty. At one point, she looked at me.
Dada, whatcha doin’?
Holding the cup so you can drink. What are YOU doing?
Drinkin’!
I laughed. Her delivery was just too spot on. The timing as well.
It’s been a good weekend. I’m sure things will change as we get deeper into the year, but for now, we have Sunday Funday Dada and Kiddo special day. Wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Let’s go, Kiddo… Time for the special lunch.
Other than that, we got groceries delivered today. I set the pick up time 1400-1600 (2pm-4pm) and at 12:40pm, just as I was starting some Podcast stories for Kiddo during rest time, my phone rang. It was the grocery store. Thinking that something was out of stock or that delivery times might move, I answered.
Hello.
Sawadee. Delivery special you. Early. Five minutes. <Line disconnects>
I, literally, only got in Hello. If we wouldn’t have been home, who knows. Sometimes, you just got to roll with Thailand. Once delivery came, I had even more to roll with, as I was given a case of UHT milk. That’s non-refrigerated shelf stable milk. Also, a bowl. I checked the paperwork and these items weren’t on my list. I tried to tell them and say no.
Free. Free. You. And a big smile. With our membership card, I guess we bought enough or got the right combo of items to get free stuff. I wish I would have known that, because the bowl is cute and a good Kiddo size, but the milk… <Shrug>. I got nothing. But, without the language skills to tell them that the bowl was great, they should keep the milk, I just accepted and said thanks.
A last thing, as mid-terms get ever closer. Food for thought.
