An Ear Story
Yesterday started with J not sounding great. She has been battling a sore throat and on Tuesday morning, she hardly had a voice left. She was at a croak, at best. Kiddo asked if I could make Mumma some soup for dinner to help with her throat. Great idea Kiddo.
At about 17:30, Kiddo was complaining about her own throat and ear a little. I gave her some Tylenol and hoped that it would ease whatever Kiddo had going on. We were thinking and hoping that it was just her tooth and part of mimicking J. She had dinner and then we showered her and all that. She was just tired.
J couldn’t speak, so they did some iPad reading and used the Epic app for books. When it came time to do Video Games with me, however, she wanted to “just cuddle and you can tell me a story, Dada.” Obviously, something was going on.
We cuddled her and got her comfortable. About 20:40 we hear her sobbing in her room and we went in to see if we couldn’t help her. No fever, but she couldn’t get comfortable with her ear. We put on clothes and threw her into jammies and headed to the clinic and overnight care. J came with and saw someone for her throat as well. They did an ATK/COVID test on Kiddo to be 100% sure it wasn’t that.
Nope.
Just an ear infection. So, we got a 10 day course of Augmentin (Amox/Clav) to give her after brekky and dinner. Getting home near 2300, we get Kiddo back into bed and I email her teacher and school to let them know Kiddo wouldn’t be in on Wednesday. She woke well enough to go, but after the late night and the ear, we kept her anyways. Good thing, because at rest time, Kiddo felt “great” and wanted to play. She was dead asleep when I went to get her an hour later. I gave her another half hour. Poor Baby!!!!!
J, on the other hand, sounds worse and they just gave her a throat spray, but no antibiotics. They think what J has is viral. So, she’s home today as well. I’ve been trying to take care of them both today and we have the left over soup for dinner, so that’s pretty easy.
Today has been sick and slow. Resting and just recouping. Hoping we all wake feeling better. Also, I’m just wondering what weird mutant combo strain of this I’m going to acquire.
Also, for those keeping track at home, 20kg on the dot (44lbs) and 116.5cm (46 inches). First, 20kg?????? She was like 2.5kg at birth and that was about 5 minutes ago. Also, almost 4 feet? She is 50cm shorter than me (19 inches) and I’m done growing. If anything, I’m shrinking. I think she’s gonna be like J. Long and lean.
The funniest part of last night was that she wanted to bring a friend. She brought Pork Chop Piggy. She saw two nurses for her temp, bp, temp, etc. She saw a different two nurses for her meeting with the Doc and for the exam. Three nurses (one from the original bp, height, weight) to do her ATK. After the 30 minute wait for the ATK results, one of the nurses from the MD Exam came to get us to meet again with the Doc and get the final info and RX info and all. However, that nurse asked Kiddo what her pig name was. Without missing a beat, Kiddo tells her, Pork Chop. The nurse nods, walks about 3 steps, looks at Kiddo, the pig, me, Kiddo again, me again, and at this point, I just give her a little shrug. She lost it. She then told the other nurses (in Thai, but we got the gist) about it and they all had a laugh. The nurses even told the doctor…. Who proceeded to look at me like I was the most evil, funny, clever parent in the world. We shared a laugh and smile.
PS. The other day, Kiddo painted her own toes. I'm not cryin... It's allergies. :D
