Paper Princess

In California, we would get a case of paper from Costco about once a year.  Between my life and J’s teaching, we went thru paper at a steady clip.  Getting to BKK, one of the first things we did was get a printer and case of paper.  Today, J popped in and grabbed the last of that paper.  More than a year and a half later.  Not bad.  Not bad at all.

Only problem is that I’ve printed about 7 things, one of them double sided.  J’s output is maybe twice mine.  Kiddo, however, is writing and drawing and doing math work sheets and teaching friends, making crafts, etc etc etc.  If we gave her free rein, she might be able to do a ream a day…. And it would be a close thing.  Half ream a day… might becomes certainly.

It’s great, however, watching her grow and learn and expand.  Not only in writing and all that, in all of her.  Let’s take a look at yesterday’s outfit.  She picked it out and J was (at first) telling her no, but Kiddo insisted and J took the attitude that it’s her clothes and she needs to go out in them, so she told her “Go for it.”

Turned out super cute.

Another part of paper is that she is reading and learning all of that, but she also wants to write.  She loves to read and read to her friends, but she also loves to create stories.  She will fold and put pages in order and write J and me stories.  Sometimes illustrated, sometimes not.

But, she’s like that because she can see J and me reading.  I’d say, it’s probably 4-5 nights a week she comes and gets me out of my book to do her Dada time at night.  We make it a point to read with her and to her.  We even prioritize the library and taking her.  We get lunch those days and make it family time, but Kiddo knows how important reading and books are and she loves them.

Besides, look at them reading.  J and Kiddo are too darned cute!!!!!

The library can be dangerous, however.  I mean, imagine leaving the library, only to find out purple ninjas are chasing you and Princess Tatianna (she’s a fairy princess) and you need to get to the other side, only the grass is LAVA!!!!!

Certainly there is no lack of imagination or play.

Other than that, she came with me for errands yesterday at the mall and Tops.  However, with temps at 39ish (102F) and 50ish (120ishF) in the sun, we made sure to get a Tuk there and home.  That was still not enough as the heat was punishing and relentless, so we stopped at McDs to get an ice cream.  We have always just gotten the cone.  For 10 baht, it’s easy.  But, it was hot and the people in front of us got a strawberry Sundae and Kiddo was interested but “maybe next time with Mumma, since you can’t eat strawberries with the seeds, Dada.”  Well, it was super sweet for her to remember that and to not want to rub it in, that she was eating something I couldn’t.  However, I knew about the chocolate option.  I ordered and Kiddo heard the “choc-0-Lot” that is used here (you’d need to hear it to know it) and I saw her head snap up.  Seeing the McDs woman making the sundaes, I thought Kiddo was gonna jump out of the building.  She went full pogo stick with excitement.

I’ll not color your opinions, but I’m leaning towards she liked it.  It’s a close thing, however.  :D

Let’s go, Kiddo… tonight we get French toast brinner and extra video game time with Dada.  But, Mumma and I got Vietnam planned and booked and I will blog about that soon, but for now, get ready, because you get to spent a few weeks exploring this summer.
