The drip of raindrops, the Drip of Kiddo

It rained the other night and the night after that, even earlier.  The second night, Kiddo got up and “had a problem”.  The problem was that she had her white noise sounds on and you could hear the rain.  She came out and J and I just looked at her as she explained.  “There’s two sounds, the rain and my birds, and I’m just not havin’ it.”

She’s six.  We try to give her understanding and not punish her for getting out of bed, but also set boundaries and let her know it’s sleep time and rest is important.  In that, however, we do laugh.  Coloring herself blue at 2200, the koala ear night, two sounds and she ain’t havin it.  LOL.

She wants agency and autonomy, however.  She’s been pushing, more and more, to pick out her outfits, how we do her hair, etc.  In fact, she talked to me today after I did her hair (more on that later) and I found she moved the bins that held her socks and her hair stuff.  No big deal, maybe in tidy time with Nanny Beer one of them put the bins in the wrong spots.  No worries and switch it.

“Dada!  Why is it that you and Mumma can move things where you want in the kitchen or TV room or your bedroom and I have my things moved to where YOU want them and not where I want them?”

Fair point.  I switched them back and apologized.  Why do I care where she stores them.  About 75% of the time, she dresses herself (socks included) and brings us the hair bin to do her hair, so if how she has it is better for her, then she should be able to keep it that way.

For her hair, the other day she asked for “double ponies with a LOT of clips.”  This is how it ended up.  Did she like it???  She lllooooooovvvvvvvved it!”  She then needed her strawberry dress and bunny pants (because they are white and originally part of a bunny costume) but not mishmashed socks.  Today, I gotta have pink socks and shoes.  I wasn’t given a reason, just that it was a pink sock day and she needed to brush her teeth.

As for the outfits, sometimes she just wears normal things or the dress with light white pants under.  Sometimes it’s funkier.  It all works on her, though.  At least, we think so.  It’s totally her and just works on her.  Fits her style.  We hope she keeps that sense of funkiness and fun and confidence in herself to wear what she wants and what’s cool and comfy for her.

Since we’re on comfy… She certainly cocoons herself in fluffs.  Be it sleeping or chilling.  She doesn’t, however, like having her pic taken unless she can pose or ask.  Just check the look I got when she caught me snapping a pic of her little breakfast fluff nest.   My sister has given me that look before.  I don’t know if it’s funnier exasperating Kiddo or pissing off JellyBeans, but in both cases I need to bite my cheeks not to laugh.

Lastly, we have a little gamer.  Here she is, playing a PJ Mask game.  Very kid friendly.  Very simple.  She can’t fall off things or “die” in game.  The bosses are pretty much foolproof.  Friday, though, I was doing some dinner prep and that’s not a Nanny Beer day, it’s a Dada day, so it’s just us.  Usually, I have dinner prepped or we do a take out type meal, but on this day I was making dinner and she wanted to play with me.  I told her I could, but needed about 15 minutes.  “15 minutes?”  Yup…. 15 minutes, Kiddo.  Can you chill that long?  “15 minutes is how long a PJ Mask level takes me.  Can I play?”  Let’s see if she can’t do this independently.  OK, you can, but I can’t help.  You need to start it and get to the game and play it all by yourself.  “DEAL!”  And she was off.  Until she saw me showing the pics to J, she didn’t even know I took them.  She was IN it.  I can’t tell you how happy this makes me.  On top of that, she’s a Brewer fan and will sit and watch games with me…. How has my heart not just exploded yet????

Lastly, a little Mother’s Day love.  She is just so her!

Let’s go, Kiddo… You are becoming such a little person, you are growing to be the whole you.  We are happy and amazed to watch you in this.  We love you.  Now, GO TO BED!  HAHAHA

PS.  Drip is current slang for cool or fashionable.
