Pancake cook off, a lunch menagerie, and stress
Yesterday was a day off for the girls, so we had a lazy morning and had a pancake make off. Most Saturdays we have laz about and just chill, but sometime during that, Kiddo will get hungry and her and J will make pancakes. Well, Kiddo thought that one of these days, I could get a lesson on pancake making. Upon being informed that I already know how to make pancakes, I taught J how to make pancakes.
Needless to say, Kiddo was very interested in this and wanted a cook off to see who made the best. So, J and I both made a batch of pancakes (with Kiddo as sous chef for both batches) and then we each made a pancake and Kiddo would determine who had the best pancake.
It ended in a tie. Whew…. Crisis averted!
We then played and got ready and had the rest of the morning, until Nanny Beer came and J and I could go out and adult for a lunch. Also, we could plan and book the Vietnam trip.
J and I headed out and went to an area called The Bright in Rama 2 and we had lunch options and a Starbucks with internet that we could use. Both of us have been hankering Mexican but our options are limited (sadly) in Bangkok and we’re yet to find good Mexican food. So, we ended up at a Taco Bell, just to scratch the itch. It was (even more sadly) the best Mexican food we’ve had since moving. It was worth it for the entertainment.
We sat after ordering and while waiting on food and what do we see? A menagerie come to life.
You can’t make stuff like this up. While we were there, however, J got a pic of the mini-turtle and the big guys. Not pictured are the pigs, hamsters, snakes, birds, etc.
As for things you can’t make up….
Wednesday night/Thursday morning, however you like to think of it, we got a 2am visitor. I was only half aware, as Kiddo went to wake J and not me. So, I was aware of a visit, but didn’t know what it was about, or even really the time. Sometimes Kiddo will come in at 5am and want to wake up and play and we need to send her back to bed. Especially on weekends. Wake up time is after 7am. We wake at 5 enough of the week. So, I - in my sleep fuzzed brain - thought it was a 5am wake up call and promptly forgot it and went back to sleep.
Awaking to our pancake cook off morning and I’m informed that the visit was at 2am, not 5 or later. Like any parent, I inquire as to the reasoning for the wake up. Well, from the mouth of babes…..
J- “Go ahead, Kiddo. Tell Dada, what was going on at 2 when you came into the room to get me.”
Kiddo- “Well…. It was that I was awake.”
J- “What was the reason you told me?”
Kiddo - “The clock was at 2 and it was stressin’ me out.”
<pause>
Kiddo- “Why are you laughing?????”
I couldn’t help it. I just couldn’t. And I wish I had audio of her saying it, because it wasn’t a parroting or awkward, it was just full on Kiddo saying that the time was stressin’ her out.
As for stressed out, I’m a bit stressed out today. I burned the pad of my left middle finger making dinner last night. Nothing tragic, but enough that I am still aware of it today and it feels like I’m typing with a limp. Especially typing especially. HAHA
Let’s go, Kiddo… Mumma is going out with Ash and Edna tonight, so we get to have a Dada Dinner Night and then play extra video games and have an all Dada tuck in and bed time!!!!! And of course, I will make sure Mumma comes to give you a kiss, even if you are already asleep.
