Visitors - The Doctor, the Dog, and a Fish

We got an email from constant reader Doc J the other day and what an exciting email it was as it appears that we will be receiving our first visitors sometime near the New Year.  Dates are still up in the air as it’s a half year out and Doc J and her partner, Mr E, are planning a big trip for themselves.  Singapore, Australia, and coming to see us in BKK.  I only mention the itinerary because (and I hope she reads this) we are only a LOT jealous of that trip and those plans.  It will be cool to see them as part of that journey.


As old friends and people in my life go, I also got a chance yesterday to touch base with Aw-Dawg.  I’ve known Aw-Dawg for about 20 years now and he’s someone that is like a little brother or cousin or something like that.  Someone who is just in your life.  Maybe you only talk once a year, or once every couple of years, but it’s just comfortable and familiar and easy to get back on the same page with that person.  It was nice to chat with and catch up with Aw-Dawg.  And if he reads this; We need to keep in better touch, it was really cool talking with you and catching up.  Also, you helped change and make me the person I am today as well.  Hugs to you, brah!


No Big Girl Friday today.  We were out last night and this week has been a crazy one and even Kiddo just wants to keep it simple.  We can have dinner, maybe watch a show with her or do some extra iPad or Stories or just spend an hour as a family before her bed chilling and being and playing and just sinking into Kiddo land for a bit.  After that, J and I are planning on having dinner together and watching Breaking Bad, since we’ve recently restarted that and are to the last episode of Season 2.  


And, for anyone that missed it on our Social Media, here’s some pics of our little fish girl.  Plus, the worlds longest French fry from our Tuesday Kiddo and Dada lunch.  Other than that, we have 8 days until our Anniversary Dinner.  We are super excited.

I'm so envious of that rooftop pool! Mr. E and I are equally excited about the upcoming visit and the big trip. I think every company should have a sabbatical policy. :-) Dr. J

We can rooftop pool as much as you want! We are super excited to see you and Mr E and just show off the cool things we've found and hang out and catch up. Once you get closer and we have timelines, we can certainly plan what we want, but we can also build in all that roof pool time too. :)

On being brave

I was laying in bed the other night and I was just awake and thinking.  I was thinking, specifically, about Kiddo and how brave she is in a lot of ways.  Moving across the world with J and I (not that she had much choice) was brave.  Quarantine.  Going to a school with mostly Thai kids.  Making friends.  Losing her tooth.  All of it.  She is so brave.   Even her attitude.  That want to see more of the world and to explore it.  Her willingness to go to markets with J and myself and eat bugs.  Last summer in Vietnam and just trying pho or banh mi while we walked down a street.  Getting lost with J in the rain in HCMC and having that adventure.  Her excitement to travel 30,000 miles this summer.  Her excitement for Shanghai and wondering how it will be different, better/worse, and what kind of ‘interesting and fun things to do” once we get there.   As I lay in the dark being a proud papa, I couldn’t help b...

A weekend in the life of Kiddo

We have our LA and SF trips set.  We are going to find some time this week to plan and set the Wisco trip and then the Mexico trip, but one step at a time.  J is looking at properties in MX for us and we will book that all soon.  Then, it’s just tying up life here, selling off our stuff, packing and getting ready to move and then it’s just airplanes, airports, and adventures. It’s not all busy work though.  We are still having some fun.   J needed to go to school on Saturday to drop off some of Kiddo’s stuff that she is repurposing to her classroom.  Puzzles and books that Kiddo aged out of and what better place than a Kindergarten classroom.  Perfect solution and better than trudging them into town and getting next to nothing selling them for credit only to acquire more books to drag around the world.  New books can wait for Shanghai, if at all, because J and I are on Kindles and Kiddo is mainly on the iPad and Epic for her books.  The l...
