Here and chair
Yesterday, I took a trip into town with Tony to run some errands and have some food. It was just two dads running around BKK and getting things done and getting some lunch. I managed to finally find some coffee filters that were big enough to make a full pot of coffee instead of a little half pot or running the risk of grounds in the coffee. I’ll call it a win. I didn’t, however, find a new coin purse. I’ve had mine since the late 90s and it finally gave up the ghost. The search continues.
Lunch was great. Som Tam, pork larb, and Thai style wings. The flavor, spice level, and freshness of it all was just on point. I wish this blog had smell and taste available, because the food was that good.
Other than that, Kiddo has found a new way to watch me play video games. I’m now player AND couch. Her and Poley just climbed up, deemed it “super comfortable”, and directed me to “keep playing Dada. Poley and I can help better from here.” Dad life. *sigh*
We did beat Shadow of the Colossus the other day and I’m trying some new games to see if Kiddo will get deeply invested in any of them.
Life is pretty slow for us right now. The school year races toward a close. The hot and rainy seasons draw near. Songkran just happened. Life is pretty much cruise control for the next few months.
We are coming up on a year in Bangkok. That will leave us with two years left. We have learned a ton. We continue to learn a ton. It’s exhausting some times. Exhilarating at others. But, regardless of the day, the struggle, or the hurdle, we are still here; In beautiful Bangkok. We are a family. We’ve found smiles and joy in every step, even with the struggles and occasional frustrations.
We have plans to see more of both Bangkok and Thailand. More of Thailand and South East Asia. More of SEA and more of the Pacific region.
Sometimes I wish I could see 15 years into the future. Just to see where we are. How many languages Kiddo speaks (or speaks in part). To have some knowledge of those places and experiences. Because if we’re still doing this when I’m 60, I would consider that a win.
Let’s go, Kiddo. We’ve got a whole big world to explore and we’ve only seen 1% so far.
