Tuk and poke
Friday nights have been fun with the new Friday Night Fun Nights with Kiddo. We ended up back at the Green Day Night Market for dinner and just people watching. There is a really good hot pot/hot plate place. J and I both love it and think the food is great, but it’s fun to cook for yourself, in this way. A cast iron plate on top of coals or a clay pot on top of coals. Beer and soda available. The view isn’t bad either. (Fan was directly on us and lil miss -8% body fat was a little chilly, hence the sweatshirt on a 90 degree night).
It’s so hot that it’s getting to be restrictive on when and how we can go out. Friday night was like that. No worries, though. We have the Tuks and Trucks that run circuits in the area. We got one and just ran over. On the way back, we could have gotten another and taken the long way around, but J and I wanted to walk off dinner and wear out Kiddo, plus it was 8pm and cooler and no sun, so the walk back was great.
Besides that, Kiddo and I used that today as well.
See, the Kiddo got my allergies (sorry, Kiddo) and her and I got to go to the clinic today to follow up and get new and renewed meds from the doc. J had a different appointment to deal with, so it was just Kiddo and Dada on a clinic adventure. They wanted to do a blood draw to check for other local allergens and any new or matured reactions to things. Kiddo was nervous throughout the whole thing and kept asking and wanting to know how long or would it hurt or what they would do. She was such a trooper though. She answered the docs and nurses. She was good with mask on and off. She was just a dear and such a lil love for the 2 hours it took. And rock solid brave. Especially at the blood draw.
See, some technology isn’t as prevalent here as some other places. However, in some ways, technology far exceeds. Banking, for example. It’s done at branch, on paper, in triplicate. But, with a banking app, you can QR code pay for ANYTHING here. So, banking is OLD SKOOL on paper, but completely advanced as it can all be done via smartphone. Medicine, in some ways, is the same. Some drugs for RX aren’t available here. Imagining is Xray, Ultrasound, or similar because the need and availability for MRI, CT and other “advanced” imagining is only at the MAJOR hospitals. And, from Flu shots, Covid shots, and other appointments and things that I’ve needed, shots and blood tech seems to be a bit behind. I’ve had blood drawn. Vac tube just like the States. But, I’ve never seen a butterfly or other needle types for small or weak veins. Figured, today, with Kiddo giving blood, I’d see it.
NOPE!
They checked her hand and elbow. Found a good hand vein. Tied her off with a rubber strap at the wrist. Alcohol wiped the hand. Then, the nurse took a needle and vial, removed the needle and inserted it and held the vial as the blood dripped out of the other end of the needle. It was completely 1950s.
The cool thing was that Kiddo lost her mind in the best way possible. “WOW! Dada, Dada, Dada! Look look look. It’s my blood. Wow, it’s really red. I hope they don’t take too much, but I have enough blood in my body to fill a bucket.” The staff was amazed that she wasn’t freaking out. Seeing what was happening acted to calm her though, because she could comment and ask about it instead of it just being a mystery and wonderment to her. And sorry no pics or vid, I was planning on it but J called from her Doc wanting advice on some Meds, since I have a pharm background, so I was frazzled and forgot to record it. Post blood draw hand with Poley paw for comfort!
So, since Tuesday is probably gonna be a movie day for us instead of a lunch date, we did a lunch date at McDs today. We went outside, saw a Tuk Truck going the way we wanted and flagged it down. Jumped onboard and two min later we were at the Mall, instead of 15 minutes later after walking in 93 degree heat that felt like 104. Heading home, same thing, only then my watch told me 94 with a feels like of 109. So, now, instead of… Will Kiddo tolerate the walk it can be, let’s find a tuk and go.... The little green vehicle you see mid-pic.
A WHOLE NEW WORLD….. HAHA
Lastly, before I go, I’ve blogged and commented and stated my views on religion and the right wing and GOP and all of that in the last year. One of my biggest arguments is that everything is one sided. It’s ONLY their point of view. They are incapable or just willfully blind to good faith arguments or seeing the other side of the coin. So, before you pass you’re Don’t Say Gay laws, your School voucher laws, or your abortion laws, maybe look at the other side of the coin. Because there’s ALWAYS another side. So, before you tell me what YOUR book says, you should recognize and accept that I might also have a side. Maybe if we could all get back to thinking like this, we could evolve past the DJT and Putins and Kim Jong of the world and start acting decent and advancing the HUMAN RACE instead of whatever white is right hellscape the half of MuriKKKa seems to want.
This simple editing job is a prime example of not seeing the other side. Just some food for thought.
Oh, before I go... A last thought. Kiddo wants a dog. I'm allergic. A mouse or lizard? Yeah, those will get out and live in the walls. A teacup pig? That could work! We are thinking about it. Anyone with thoughts or feedback? Experience? Reach out or add to the comments.
Let's go, Kiddo... It's time to experience more of this wonderfully strange place we live. Oh, and I love you!
